Cook hosted an AMA on Reddit and someone asked about ATRL's fav All Up In Your Mind: „I was brought in at a very late stage, sort of the opposite of how I'll work with Charli or Caroline. Bloodpop was doing a few things across the album and recommended me to try something. The demo had a lot a lot a lot of stuff going on, and I basically re-made, cut out and re-arranged various parts. Most of that track stuck to my arrangement, though I think I had a more insane/industrial outro ha. Love how that whole album is sequenced though, and yeah was obv very excited to work on it" now i wanna hear the ballistic outro
Anvarie Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I'm curious what y'all think about where Renaissance lands in comparison to Lemonade and ST. The latter 2 get a critical acclaim halo and I think Renaissance deserves the same recognition on these best albums lists 1
ShouldersSideways Posted May 22 Posted May 22 ST and Lemonade probably get more recognition not just because they're great albums but because they have accompanying films that expound upon the music itself 2

Like they've had time to cement their legacy whereas Ren is still very fresh AND already has a super acclaimed follow up. Its place in her career in the longterm just isn't clear yet even if it's #1 in my heart 2
Devin Posted May 22 Posted May 22 renaissance is a hive staple (like b'day). self titled & lemon are highlights to the gp. 3

TiaTamera Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Why is Beyoncé trying to be edgy by not releasing videos? II Most Wanted could have had strong legs if she made a video and promoted it. THE was cute, but not enough to carry this segment of the era and not enough to make lasting impact in country. She should milk it
futuresuperstar2023 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Beyonce wrong for that. She been shooting videos for years now and not releasing it lmao. A whole video filmed since 2022 and we may not get them until late next year lmfao

When I say this base is darksided… it's the same fools who tried to convince us she scrapped act II. pay them no mind. 1

The latter 2 get a critical acclaim halo and I think Renaissance deserves the same recognition on these best albums lists I mean it's still too recent for that but I don't believe it will ever get the same recognition, mostly because she let the whole thing die. Despite the initial great reception to the album it just didn't stick as that landmark cultural moment that it could have been if she was somewhat out there making sure it stays in engrained in public consciousness. I know some people say she didn't do enough and sabotaged herself during ST and Lem but the truth is she was doing a lot, just in a smart way. Not only were the visual components carrying a lot of weight as @ShouldersSideways said but she was out there performing giving some of the best performances of her career and that created a lot of discourse around her and how she's this queen figure in entertainment. There was a lot of imagery and visual identity that helped make these the cultural moment that they were. Renaissance had none of that. Something did happen to a smaller extent with the chrome during the tour but that came almost after a year after her not doing anything so naturally the hype and discourse around the music itself had fizzled out. Had she done BMS at the BET, some pre recorded set like Apple music or even an own production for the fall, the Grammys in Feb then the visual film in spring between the Grammys and the tour things would be very different today I assure you. Kristie Kuwa Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Also Lemonade is so intensely tied to the BLM, it really had a narrative going within another narrative. The stars truly aligned (just not regarding AOTY and the Grammys who decided to opt for a rehash album)
