oh I see... it's been a week since release so we can go back to counting up all the things we don't have...

Instead of a pompous signing (like wtf was that, the Declaration of Independence?) they should've launched with a concert where they all performed. Absolutely insane that with their combined teams and star power no one was like wtf are we doing?

Every artist involved needed the humbling tbh.

that would have been a great idea, and they kinda did end up doing this eventually with their TIDAL concerts which were really good, AND free I might add...you didn't even have to be subscribed you just had to go to the side and stream it...which maybe is a bad idea to get subscribers but it was a culturally interesting thing they did by offering that to people. Also it gave us some of Beyoncé's most amazing performances of her career.

There was so much hope in this era after the promo run for the film, her biggest commercial ad since Pepsi 2013 and having a #1 single but this isn't even her usual self sabotage- the actual release has been comically sloppy with the streaming/cd/vinyl.

I think the Been Country blogs possibly supposed to be a virtual album booklet and there's not much else to do there. Maybe they should've held off the physical release to fulfill the aesthetics that were so consistent in the lyric videos. They half axxed continuing the "RENAISSANCE" aesthetics anyway. The only reason why I brought a $50 record player from Target was solely for the vinyl because the pics were beautiful.

Obviously none of this has hindered the album's success and commercial (white) appeal, but this release is just nasty work. There is no exclusive performance, no visuals, no tour- just pictures taken in the PW board room last minute.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about the differences in the streaming vs. vinyl/cd? it's messy, but it's also not that big of a deal to me.

short of re-printing everything, the only other solution would have been to cut those songs completely just so no one had anything to say about it. is that what we would have preferred? or, I guess she could have been clearer during pre-order about the track length so no one would be mad, but the Hive couldn't even decipher a left-to-right, top-to-bottom tracklist picture, would it really have mattered if they read "22 songs" on the pre-order page when they'd just get themselves worked up once all the 27 tracks on the track list were revealed? ALSO we don't know when the decision to add those songs were. It could have been the day before the track list came out. I for one am glad we have them, even if it's just on streaming.

It all just seems like magnification of small issues, which I get because she's such a perfectionist that these things are more obvious/feel bigger but... it's also like...?

Even as a collection of photos, beencountry fails. we got one new photoshoot pic and a collection of photos we've seen 1,000 times...

I could be wrong but I feel the people she's talking to when she says she's "BEEN COUNTRY" are not the fans who would have seen these pictures before, and in fact, I would assume that it's only stans who have seen them before.

I dont mind it either, HOWEVER the communication has been PISS poor. Consumers should at least know what they are purchasing, not having to find it out AFTER purchasing it. Thats just bad.

Imagine Apple doing **** like that

Honestly same. Thankfully that pic Rih chose Was horrible, but it would be very Beyonce to have grand ideas but be super late to the party and thus losing

I think most of us here who bought it as a collector item do not care that much but that rollout is sloppy and disrespectful to her fans.

People were spinning their records, with glee, filming themselves just to find out that songs are missing, some mixes are different, some background vocals are in the CD but not the same on vinyls or on streaming. With no communication or forenotice of that fact, that is wrong and indefensible! That should not be part of a discourse the first week of a Beyoncé's new album's release. Parkwood completely lacks professionalism. It's also a bit disappointing that she greenlighted this. It feels scammy.

This could have been so easily spun as a deluxe edition, a prime version of how the album first existed in the mind of Beyoncé, an exclusive for the fans. It was easy marketing too.

I agree...

but I just think there's a lot of assumptions. we don't know when the new songs were added. She ostensibly could have released the physicals for pre-order thinking it was the final album, and then later had a realization she wanted those other tracks added for streaming. in this case, she could not have possibly let people know that what they were purchasing would differ from streaming, as it would have been correct at the time of release. She could have retroactively said something, I guess, but that would have been even weirder and as mentioned, the Hive couldn't even decipher the tracklist without going on a thousand theories despite it just being exactly as it was pictured.

this is obviously an assumption as well, I'm just saying part of the messiness is just not knowing either way, so deciding one way or the other with judgment and anger seems at least for now, unnecessary.

I'm glad I got both a CD and physical of what is now a very limited edition version of the album. and maybe it's because I don't plan to listen to them that it doesn't bother me, because I can imagine if physicals was your only way to hear music, it would be annoying, but I kind of doubt most people buying them and complaining are also on streaming, too.

If I were spinning it and hearing new vocals I'd be hyped though. She called it a Limited Edition vinyl and it is.

I get she could have been more specific but there's nothing scammy about it. You thought you were buying a limited edition COWBOY CARTER physical copy, and that's what you got. You still received the album even if three tracks and two interludes were omitted. There's just more that has been released on another edition. Essentially it's like a streaming exclusive, like having SALUUD on Tidal.

The only scammy thing is saying it comes with a bonus track that turns out to not be a bonus track due to it being on streaming. But again, I point to the fact that we actually don't know when or why the decision to add more tracks was. To me, it seems that since the bonus track was advertised for the CD before that note was omitted on the product page, I would assume at some point after pre-orders were launched, the decision to include it on the streaming version was made. And I really don't think it's a scam to give your fans more new music on streaming.

Ok...

I guess let's agree to disagree because I really do disagree with every single point you raised.

The only thing that could shake @swissman's faith in Beyoncé was the prospect of a Beatles cover.

Yeah, I guess it's good that he's like that. Although in this case, Beyoncé is not to blame, she needs a better team. This same Beyoncé would have or probably has done the same thing before but it was probably presented better to us so we never knew. That's the point, concealing this was pretty easy too.

and even that I have warmed up to... I usually skip it, but I still enjoy it if I don't.

and actually her keeping the same instrumental as them was such a flex, I love that.

I just will not ever be mad at the addition of three new musical tracks to the COWBOY CARTER streaming release.

So we had a phenomenal first week and now all thats left is luck, cause when it comes down to Parkwood, thats all they are capable of: A great first week

Lets see if we are lucky again with a Cuff It 2.0, cause otherwise, itll only be downhill from here nnnnn. Sustaining an era seems like a HUGE mystery for all people included at Team Parkwood. Laughable to say the least

Such a shame, but honestly predictable since ST.

I've been trying not to throw a wet towel on all the good news, but how the cds were handled is disgraceful. The bonus track they advertised as being exclusive to the box sets that never happened and the fact she responded to the backlash by changing the product info of the boxset to remove the terminology of a bonus track.. ma'am that's a bait and switch.

And her vinyls that were "exclusive" to her store, being available to amazon (and for cheaper) AFTER. Whew Conman Carter era off to a great start
