I think everyone is sort of having a touring Renaissance right now after the pandemic. We don’t know what it will look like in a couple of years. I’m always of the mind to strike while the iron is hot.

Whether or not her work has resonated with the masses or her fans in the past (like...four years ago) seems like a non-point. I'm saying I commend her for knowing her worth in regards to a project in the present, one associated to an era proven to be successful by all metrics. That's why I brought up success. It was a direct response to your point about failure being a reason she should not estimate herself the way she (apparently) has. If failure factors into estimation, why does success not as well?

Either way, Beyoncé seems to know her worth and again, I commend that. There's a reason the media impact value of her tour clothing collaborations has been nearly double that of someone else on a more successful tour.

I'm sorry but that metric means nothing to most of the world, it's basically business talk for retweets. If she wore a clown suit the MIV would go up for party city since everyone is talking about how ugly the outfit is

There's a reason the streaming companies said no, would you invest tens of millions on a project the main star won't promote? If true, would you invest tens of millions into a project where she previously scrapped a deal with netflix? Look at the renaissance era as a whole: did she promote the album itself well? One magazine cover months before release and two singles, one of which was only a hit because of tiktok... no live performances, she doesn't do interviews, she's not on most social media, etc. What about Act 2? Do they have to wait another year+ for the visuals of that too? So secrets and surprises are our only strategy? Then the streaming companies take the blame from miss tina publicly because no one is watching???? Yeah, I'd pass on that too

Streaming services are a numbers game, if she wants top dollar for her projects she can't sit by and do nothing anymore.

Bey is making 7 million a night on her weaker dates of her world tour. She could do an extra concert somewhere and probably recoup the losses of making the Renaissance visual. She needs to just put it out!

Brilliantly stated! A lot of us in here have said the no promo route would come back to hurt both Bey and the fans in the long run.

I know people hate comparisons but I don’t think Taylor did one interview this whole past year yet look where her numbers are. Why hasn’t Beyoncé and company figured out a way to engage with fans and media without resorting to completely isolating themselves and keep everyone out of the loop in the middle of an era? It makes absolutely no sense, and now studios hold the upper hand because the numbers were short from previous projects.

Dubai alone should've covered any losses, at this point I would take her going on tiktok live with her phone pointed at a screen showing the visuals

Because Beyoncé DOESN’T want to engage with fans and media. She’s already famous enough, she doesn’t want a bunch of crazy people tracking where she is and showing up like Taylor is experiencing. :rip:

!!!! Like what is the hold up? For the flex to say her visuals are an amazon prime, netflix etc. exclusive? Just take whatever offer and put them out Bey the tour is where the money is at anyway

I’m thinking about how it was theorized a while back that the film would be inspired by The Shining, and while it’s highly unlikely I would love if she served me a horror experimental movie. I want to be scared and confused

It’s so interesting to look back on all the theories for what it could possibly be. We went from an escape from reality from covid, to the shining, a ballroom contest, the whole echoville thing, and now Wizard of Oz is being passed around.

I’m so intrigued on what it could possibly be, and considering what the article said of this being a step up from BIK, I wonder if we’ll get a more cohesive “storyline” for the visuals? The way every song seamlessly transitions into the next I would love for the visuals to coincide with this as well.  I hope more info drops soon the next few weeks:jonny5:

At this point I'm convinced it's all of the above.

All the more reason to leave them out of this one

Tbh I wouldn’t mind if they were mostly queer artists like the Kevins and Honey Dijon

Okay then she doesn’t have to. But she can’t come crying when her projects flop and studio after studio leave her on seen after 6 months. :ducky:

That’s just speculation tho. And she just grossed over 450 million dollars for her tour while I’m having instant ramen for dinner, I don’t think she’s the one crying.

Why do you all interpret engagement with people stalking you on the street? I’m giving an example of an artist who didn’t have to speak to the media or fans once and is still able to garner massive pull to their music, videos, etc. Her team can literally do all the work.

We sold out her boxes, her merch, broke amazon records and touring records… we deserve the visuals and she probably didn’t even spend $2M on them.
The videos will not make me love Renaissance any more than I already do, but it sucks to know that we haven’t gotten the full picture yet for something that has become so dear to most of us

I'm not saying they don't have their reasons for saying "no" (if that is actually what happened). I'm saying that in this scenario, I like that Beyoncé seemingly has said "no" to them too. I'm really not sure what the issue around this. I like the idea that she's seeing the value in her work, not just on paper ie. how many views but whatever cultural or artistic importance the work may have. Beyoncé is sensitive about what she does, so it'd be no surprise to me if she wasn't happy with so much work of her's being reduced to "ya but would people watch a music film more than once?"

Anyway, still all the conversation about it means nothing without solid info.

Ok but why does Beyoncé have to have a studio to put her work out? Wouldn’t the boss move be to say eff the streamers and put it out herself and recoup most of the profit? Genuinely perplexed

This is the same lady that hid formation from mass consumption and profit. She hid a whole album for three years on platforms but now she must have $100 million or whatever for her visuals????

I don't think the two reasonings would be related. I don't think the point would be that she needs $100 million. We all know, as does she, that she could release it for free. Being lowballed means more than the price. (if that's at all what's happening).
