See.  And this is why the whole

human rights and ethics conversation is just so unserious until we all keep it a buck across the board on how much of what we love from pop stars comes to us at the expense of poor people in abusive working conditions, that go home to poverty.

If they got an all expenses paid invite to this show all their faux “morals” would fly out the damn window.

these girls ain’t fooling me.

Okay so if I'm drinking with my friends before we go out, I'm so into it.

But if I'm in my house or just driving down the road, it's an immediate skip.

It doesn't matter where I am. if Church Girl comes on, I will be shaking my ass.

(for safety reasons, let me clarify that I do not drive.)

Regarding your paragraph underneath, I don't even know what you're talking about.

You chose a cheap and shaky weight loss pill comparison to drive a point home, and I flipped it right back on you.

Beyoncé can perform in Dubai while simultaneously loving gay people at large.  Much like someone pushing a weight loss pill for mass consumption that isn’t dangerous yet still dangerously impacts way of life at the labor level.

Don’t attack my stance if this is all you’re bringing to the table.

Which Bey songs are we playing for NYE? Schoolin Life is always a staple in my playlist:gaycat4: it just perfectly symbolizes the celebration of growing up and enjoying each point of time in your life and it’s so fun and nostalgic, perfect song to reminisce about the past and look forward to the future:heart:

Single Ladies will be on there ofc, her last huge hit etc. and Cuff It is a necessity for all the couples smooching at midnight:heart:

Tbh, I'll be blasting Renaissance as the whole album is so uplifting and fun. Plus "Schoolin' Life" because it's a jam. :jamming:

And people will have every right to highlight that their labor force is unethical... Just like they have every right to criticise Bey's decision. Like its extremely simple :psyduck:

And its still a shallow, reductive response to anyone who cares. Emphasis on response because you weren't just making a stand alone statement, you were specifically responding to those who were critical of her and referred to them as "jokes"

"Melanie C pulls out of Poland NYE gig in solidarity with 'communities I support"
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-64101556

"lorde cancels concert scheduled for Rel Aviv"

https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/music/lorde-cancels-israel-concert-after-boycott-movement-weighs-n832571

Trying to reduce the dynamics of the world by just telling everyone celebrities don't care or share your politics does not move the needle. Many artists build their brand by projecting such values through their music and their personas. They put their own money into supporting communities and movements. It's absolutely fair to hold them to it, and to judge them against the values that you as in individual respect. Sometimes they nudge & learn from it.

When Rihanna was getting dragged for featuring Johnny Depp, do you think it would make sense to go around deflecting all criticism with the same tired point of "She's not a politician"? Or would you just accept that criticism is valid and her job really doesn't have anything to do with the discussion? And I don't even care about Dubai but the logic of that deflection tactic is not strong.

Tangent - real question-  why is Johnny Depp still an issue if he was found not guilty in both the legal court and court of public opinion? I never understood that

GOD please no, if the base is fighting like that over Dubai we'll never recover from the Johnny Depp trial

They do.  But you incorrectly accused me in an earlier post of suggesting otherwise, while attacking my opinion.  My initial post was saying this debate reminded me of the capitalism argument — which is essentially a labyrinth of doors to walk through.

And I didn’t lie.  Thank you for proving my point.

Meh, I'm not involved lol. He was still at least very messy to Amber as captured on video.

He wasn't, he was found guilty by a British court of abusing Amber Heard.
