ariananext Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I haven't heard Brat but I gave Sympathy Is A Knife a listen since people are speculating that's gonna be the song with Ariana.. I don't know how they're going to make this work out without having a DCMA 2.0, sounds like the complete opposite of Ariana's sound not too excited, let's see.

genio Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I'm wondering where the other magazine covers are. Don't tell me Vanity Fair is the only one. There will be a Wicked premiere soon (hopefully?) so where is the PR machine??? We got a Vanity Fair cover, some hot spice wings and her usual REM stuff. This is your movie debut Ariana, get up and get to work.

I think there will definitely be more interviews along the way. Ariana's hosting SNL next week and it's been confirmed the cast will be on The Kelly Clarkson Show later this month/in November. ariananext Posted October 5 Posted October 5 The marketing is insane, I'm going to get a couple of Funko Pops and hopefully some clothing piece if they have a collab with more brands available in Europe. I really want the Glinda mattel doll as well

Tm4074 Posted October 5 Posted October 5 The marketing for Wicked is insane. Universal wants this to smash and must believe in it. Did the Disney live actions or Barbie have this much before release? It could just be I'm in the know so I notice the marketing more for Wicked. I hope Wicked does well. I think it has a lot going for it - PG fantasy film released during the start of the holiday season, casted actual singers in a musical that can sing, is being marketed/made for its target audience unlike JFAD, popular IP, and Wicked is a billion dollar franchise on stage with a loyal fanbase. The movie just needs to be good and well-received so WOM doesn't kill its momentum which is TBD obviously. If the movie underperforms we all know Ariana will be blamed for it like Gaga is for Joker. From a personal perspective I rarely go to the movies and the only movies I saw in theaters in the past couple years were Barbie and Inside Out 2. Both made 1B+ in the box office. I'm going to see Wicked in theaters and same for some of my friends (women aged 25-35, some taking their kids) so hopefully that audience shows up for it. 4

This is your movie debut Ariana, get up and get to work. The past few months have just been a slow burn of appearances and press (Ariana and Cynthia doing the Oscars, the Olympics, etc) to keep the movie in the press. And then of course the weekly drops of new merch and brand collabs. But the REAL press tour hasn't even begun yet. I anticipate late October/early November it'll kick off. And by press tour I mean: press junkets, major TV/talk show appearances, red carpet premieres, press in other countries (I predict the UK (obvi), Mexico, Australia, somewhere in Asia... maybe Korea or China, perhaps Brazil). We already know a London premiere is scheduled for November 18th. So I assume that week they'll be doing a lot of Euro promo. The week before they are booked to tape The Kelly Clarkson Show on the 12th in NYC, so I'm assuming we can expect appearances on all the major NYC shows around that time... Fallon, The View, GMA, The Today Show, Watch What Happens Live. Not to mention internet based shows and content like major podcasts or popular YouTube shows like Chicken Shop Date or things of that sort. There's also going to be a US red carpet premiere, rumored to be in Los Angeles, prior to the UK premiere, but the date isn't confirmed. And of course Ariana is hosting SNL next week (a few days after tickets go on sale) so I predict Ari's SNL appearance is going to be the kick off for the start of the Wicked press takeover. 9 hours ago, Tm4074 said: The marketing for Wicked is insane. I feel like all signs point to Wicked being a moderate success because of all the things you mentioned. However, if it goes the distance to be a true mega smash will depend on the quality. I think this movie will live or die by the reviews and the Rotten Tomatoes score. The hardcore Wicked fans, musical theater fans, Ariana Grande fans, etc will see it no matter what and I think it will have a successful opening weekend. But beyond that, it will be competing with Moana during its theatrical run throughout the holiday season, which I think could hurt it in the long run since they share a similar audience. But if the reviews and scores are stellar, I think that will help it become a long term box office hit. I'm predicting somewhere in the $500-600M box office gross when it's all said and done for part one. I think in another world without Moana competition it could've gone the distance and maybe even been a $1B moment, but perhaps with the two movies combined they'll total over $1B. 5
