Featured Replies

Britney Spears’ “Toxic” was number one on the Hot Digital Sales chart, this week in March 2004, with 9.4K units sold.

A Renaissance.

I wonder when will they fully extinct.

The number one song this week in 2002 on the Hot Singles Sales chart was “Uh Huh” by B2K with 8.2K units sold - it was #45 on the Hot 100.

CD singles peaked in the previous decade, the 1990’s, similar to how Digital sales peaked in the 2010’s following it’s debut in the 2000’s.

I think Digital Sales should be near extinction sometime in the next few years.

Won't take long. By the end of the year we'll be seeing songs reach #1 with less than 5k

Did Billboard publish this? Where can I find it?

Florida and Pitbull would have loved to be at their prime in this sales climate.

The fact that we're back to 2004 digital era :deadbanana2:

Those XMas weeks when the top 10 would be selling 300k+ sales was so exciting back then, the charts were so volatile :jonnycat:

they need to remove it from the Hot 100 metric. it doesn't reflect popularity in any way and only enables fraud

I wouldn't mind if they stop being part of the Hot 100, so tired of the damn fraud some are able to do.

I feel like buying a digital song in 2022 is the equivalent of buying an nft without the chance of scamming an resell it.
