Intentions debut with 3.5m blinding lights debut with 4.6m. These songs ended up smashing especially the latter. Stuck with u debut with what, 7.6m? first day numbers don't do anything for the success of a song. Cardigan debut with like over 4m in the us and now it is below intentions on the hot 100. Justin also has a track record of relative low debuts compared to his contemporary's with everything he puts out. I think he overperformed in the US and underperformed everywhere else for first day streams relative to his other single releases in the past.
