So, I was thinking last night and 

 

a) - that's TOO big a rate

b) - we really need to broaden the idea of "pop" in these rates.

 

So, I present to you (and everyone else) the three TWPOP 2020 rates:

 

1) "Oh Shit, At Least You Tried:" - Chromatica v. Smile v. High Road v. Plastic Hearts

2) THIS WAS POP 2020 -  What A World: - Positions v. After Hours v. YHLQMDLG v. how i'm feeling now 

3) The Kids Are Alright - Rare v. Changes v. Manic v. Wonder

 

I'll pencil you down for rate 1. (and I can assume almost no one wants to touch Part 3 with a ten foot pole, but alas!

 

Also @bestfiction I know what the fourth album for the dance rate will be - PM me! Have a lot of ideas about that one too!

I was going to leave "of Beyoncé," but that rate had Prism and Britney Jean, so there were some struggles.

Yeah, but even then! Prism was Katy’s followup to a blockbuster, and had a blockbuster hit preceding it. She was still contextually aligned with the other ladies in that rate.

 

In 2020, Katy Perry is not in conversation with Ariana Grande in any way, shape or form; to put them together is frankly insulting.

Gotta be honest, I'm more excited for 1! I'm down for the mess. Whereas...positions and After Hours kind of bore me. Even though Bad Bunny's album was excellent!

tbh, I see The Weeknd snatching this easily. Bad Bunny is a good album that will be done wrong. Charli will also be done wrong because not everyone gets hyperpop. Ariana, despite having the weakest album in the group (and her weakest album to date), will be easily inflated.

well according to that criteria then it’s Charli's that would have to go in the first one instead  and I think putting such different artists together like Ariana and Bad Bunny is just gonna end up in a disadvantage for Bad Bunny since those albums aren’t even close to being similar or comparable, it just feels so out of place to me
