Not sure if it's a script thing rather than a directorial/acting choice, because at least with My Policeman, it requires some misdirection. He didn't have to play it that way but he did and it came off unnecessarily wooden in spots.

I'll say this as someone who actually saw and covered the film at the TIFF World Premiere - is Harry a great actor? No. Should he have gotten a lead role his 3rd/4th film out? Probably not. Does he have a complete inability to speak eloquently about his acting work? Yes (the Q&A after gave him a softball and his answer was just, whew). But there were some genuinely good moments in My Policeman that made me think, "he could do this if he really wanted to." He had really good chemistry with David Dawson. The awkward moments were definitely an acting choice that didn't pan out well (the plot explains how about a third of the way through). If Harry really wanted to have a go of it as an actor, he could. There are some instincts there that he could develop. But that's going to require a lot more time and effort than I think he's willing to put in at the moment. We'll see.

There's not much difference. There's the prerequisite airbrushing and some retouching. It's a beauty ad, what do you expect?

It's not just a Marvel problem, though. Hollywood has transitioned away from the movie star model and has gone all-in on IP. Of course, that leaves actors little room for actors to cultivate a persona the way that Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, etc. did before the 2000s. The problem for Hollywood is that there's only so much IP they can adapt before there's either nothing left, or people get sick of it. Then, they're kind of assed out. I think one thing that Hollywood is experimenting with is Hollywood biopics, where they cast current stars as older "golden age Hollywood" stars to kind of adapt the mystique for the modern era. Ana de Armas is playing Marilyn Monroe, Tom Holland is playing Fred Astaire, Chris Evans is doing Gene Kelly, and the list goes on. (I wrote about in depth here.) I don't know if it'll work (we'll see if Blonde plays well and Ana gets the Oscar nomination everyone is expecting, but I think Hollywood is realizing that their current model is unsustainable and they need something, or true-blue movie stars, to get people to return to theaters.
