Was Terrence Loves You a good single choice for Honeymoon?
One of the best songs on Honeymoon—potentially the best one, or at least the one that encapsulates the album's themes and sonic direction the best—and one of her greatest songs period. Lana has proved that she doesn't care about commercial potential regarding the songs she picks as singles (random deep cuts always end up becoming viral hits anyway) but she's interested in introducing the listeners to the distinct soundscape and lyrical content of each of her albums. And Terrence Loves You wholly succeeds in doing exactly that. Terrific song.

Steve Lacy - 'Oh yeah?'
Solid album. Pure Colour is top 3 here, I have no idea why it's so divisive.

Kelela - 'new avatar'
A great album by Kelela. Raven remains my favourite work from her (the Fooley-Divorce run is astonishing), but there are some incredible highs on this one, too (idea 1, point blank, goin down, retaliation lullaby, linknb, don't piss me off). Not a single filler here. What slightly underwhelmed me was the fact that her experimentation with indie rock/industrial/shoegaze etc. ended up being quite restrained and she never really went all in. I also felt like something was missing in terms of narrative/storytelling —unlike Raven— but I dig its rough DIY and less polished vibes and structure, too.

Olivia Rodrigo - 'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love'
This is unquestionably her most cohesive and sophisticated work to date. The cure is a career highlight—it works tremendously well in the context of the album—and I also like maggots for brains, honeybee, purple, cigarette smoke, and what's wrong with me a lot, too. It's not perfect but it's a grower, and I truly admire her mature and thoughtful storytelling.

Kelsey Lu - 'So Help Me God'
Astonishing album. Eclectic, experimental, and incredibly atmospheric.

Olivia Rodrigo - "the cure"
Significantly better than drop dead, which I found wholly underwhelming and middle-of-the-road. I feel like she hasn't reached her full potential yet, but she's getting close. I really like the instrumental intro and the gorgeous strings in the outro, and the verses are quite good, too. Not a fan of the chorus though. It feels a bit too generic. Still, I'm very curious about the new record. I hope she delivers.

Charli xcx - "SS26"
Yes, this is good. I like its laid-back minimalism, and the repetitiveness is quite fitting to its sentiment. I like Rock Music, as well. There's a sense of incompleteness on both songs, which makes them sound more like unfinished/unpolished demos, and I find that refreshing especially after BRAT.

Madonna - 'CONFESSIONS II'
I Feel So Free, and it's not even close.
-
Lana Del Rey - "White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter"
A career highlight. It's fascinating how she always finds a way to change things up. Terrific work by Erickson and Antonoff, too.
