Where is Beyoncé tour boost?
??? Beyonce's peers are the 90s R&B girls, Britney, and P!nk. What are their numbers? The fact that ya'll are trying to compare her to people who haven't even crossed 20 or 10 years as mainstream singers is already impressive. Only on ATRL will you have an army of people (who are mostly ***!!) trying to tear down a BLACK WOMAN who against all odds has lasted 30 years at the top of the music industry... make it make sense??

Lady Gaga
I went to W1 so I'm biased but I'd say Weekend 1 still - like that was an entire GAG. BLOODY MARY OPENING, the entire act 1 was a moment for the fans on such a huge stage and it was so unexpected.

Lady Gaga
What a strong return to form this whole era has been - im so happy for her!

Lady Gaga
If that song doesn't become a single.... we ride to the Capitol!

Lady Gaga
They must have accidentally swapped her and Lisa's microphones
-
Lady Gaga
You can tell she's in such a great headspace and it's translating into every look this era, she's looked absolutely amazing
-
Lady Gaga
She looks absolutely INCREDIBLE... STUNNING!
-
Lady Gaga
Well the microphone better be on 150% volume for Vanish Into #1 on the Hot 100!
-
Lady Gaga
Also does it sound oddly quiet to anyone else? I was there W1 so I didn't see the stream but it feels like they turned the crowd ALL the way down like ????

Lady Gaga
If they don't hand her a mic....

Artists that changed their career trajectory in 2020
I think losers was probably the wrong word. I more meant less lucky than the winners. Like Dua and Taylor definitely came out 2020 with much more than they could have imagined going in. Chromatica is definitely a success but just feels like they probably planned for it to be bigger than it was compared to it being bigger than what they planned for. But yeah of course you cant lose with #1 album, #1 song and stadium tour lol

Artists that changed their career trajectory in 2020
That's true but its unfortunate because Plastic Hearts was much better as a full project than ESV and had multiple songs that should have been huge hits and they didn't get what they deserved

Artists that changed their career trajectory in 2020
Positions is her best album- But it did kind of come and go unfortunately and they fumbled by never releasing smash in waiting "safety net" as a single
-
Lady Gaga
I don't think that has anything to do with it. They were also both on stadium tours in 2022

Artists that changed their career trajectory in 2020
lmfao is that how this came across.... bc I love both of them literally bumping Vanish Into You rn before Monsters lash me I'm just talking commercially, obviously Chromatica was supposed to be an ERA and because of the timing it didn't work out I feel like thats objective
-
Dua still has a chance to make RO a smash era
I agree but she might as well because she locked in by dragging the tour out to the end of the year.

Artists that changed their career trajectory in 2020
2020 lockdowns were a terrible time for the world but I can't help but think there are a few artists whose careers would be in completely different places had they not happened: Winners Taylor - can't even imagine where she'd be now if she had ridden out Lover and folklore never happened. Folklore is probably the best album release from this time imo - PERFECTLY met the moment, critically and commercially successful, and cemented her as a respected artist. Dua - FN is obviously full of absolute bangers but I feel like it ironically really popped off because it was such an escape from what was happening and she was the only MPG that was really going and promoting her stuff at the time. Weeknd - biased because this is my fave but After Hours is also an album that I feel like coincidentally really met the mood of the moment. Do Blinding Lights, SYT, DFY become the massive hits they are in a normal climate? Doja, Megan - Tiktok dances and trends basically launching their mainstream careers. Losers Gaga - Chromatica rollout completely messed up with timing of its release and the era basically ends release week. Camila - Romance already had underperformed but My Oh My was picking up and the pandy effectively ended the era. Demi - Probably would have tanked anyways but she was just getting ready to release before the pandemic. Miley - I doubt Plastic Hearts does any better without Covid but its her best album and it deserved more so putting it here. what say you?

What will Joanne's legacy be in Gaga discography?
It wasn't great as an album especially in the context of her other albums but it allowed her to be free from the perception of being a gimmick. Which is ironic because the Joanne era was very gimmicky but in a completely different way from her other albums. It was the backdrop for the Super Bowl and for ASIB and it's literally this album that even made the idea of Gaga being a Oscar winner (and acting nominee!) a feasible idea. I think she deserves a lot of respect for not playing it safe (bc she could have done some Artpop Act II thing and imagine where her career would have gone) but the Monsters as a fan base also deserve respect because they stood by her.

Day 25 | Spotify: Mayhem 14.8M unfiltered | 117.4M third week
Yes I feel like this is important context because people said she was streaming poison for a long time and since then she's had multiple 1B+ hits so now the goalpost has shifted. Like it's really impossible to drag her because 10 years ago if you came on here and said she'd have the career and the numbers she's put up in that timeframe you would have been laughed at. Beyonce this, Tate that, why don't people compare her to her actual peers who debuted in the same landscape bc that's where the real conversation should be.

HDD: #1 Mayhem 223k
I can't see how this doesn't outsell Chromatica. Jennie is not going to be competition for this album - if anything Jennie's competition is GNX and Tate.

How do you rank MAYHEM from 1 out of 10
I'd give it an 8 or a 9. I haven't really cared much for any of the ballads on her studio albums but The Beast + Blade of Grass + DWAS is a 1,2,3 punch. On that note can someone actually explain The Beast hatred for me? Like I see people saying it's boring and doesn't go anywhere and I'm wondering if we're listening to the same song lol

Lady Gaga - 'MAYHEM'
