This fantano interview is not worth the irritation it's causing

I finally GET stupid song the recency bias was making me defend what's wrong with me… but the echoey effect they have on the vocals on that song have unfortunately caused me to love it less… Still an impossible album to rank for me! Which is how you know she did tremendously.

VERY Alanis! Her vocal inflictions on parts of cigarette smoke reminded me of Uninvited.

I think they both are very different writers (which is probably a hot take). I think Olivia leans more towards blunt, diaristic writing. But she is also very good at visual writing, she just doesn't do it as much. Taylor leans more into imagery and stark specificity. Whereas I don't think she's quite as good at delivering directly or straight edged… e.g. Actually Romantic I don't think we've heard enough from Olivia to compare them just yet.

It's like one day Olivia randomly decided to give up the cursive indie accent. And whatever caused that I thank with every fiber of my being

I generally don't care about critical reception, but I think this album deserves the acclaim guts got + more. I love guts! But this album feels so much more like Olivia has found her voice and her perspective to an even greater extent. You can tell a lot more editing and refinement has been put into this album - it feels like a fleshed out album rather than a collection of great songs.

Usually my expectation are set way too high. Yet somehow she managed to exceed them… she's operating at a higher level here. Completely. I am so shaken. There's not a single song here I found to be a snooze fest (cough logical) and the people comparing less to logical will pay reparations for their sinful statements

Wow Olivia is really solidifying herself as a classic songwriter this era This is so magnificent. The build is tremendous.

This will hopefully prompt drop dead out of her grave as well similarly to the good 4 u effect on deja vu

I agree unfortunately. The song is so brilliant but I knew from the second I heard it would take the gp a while to grow fond of it/ it wouldn't hit the same as her other singles. I think Olivia has just set the standard so high over her last two eras so anything less than fantastic is considered underwhelming
