WHEN IM THE ******* CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE YOU SHOULD BE EATING ME ME ME ME ME ME ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY EVERY DAY DAY DAY DAY DAY DAY AND IM THE ******* CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE it's just so campy you can't help but love it! the only crime this song committed is not having a longer outro, but that's half the songs on this album

It's a good album! Definitely short and leaves a lot to be desired, but good nonetheless. the songs are catchy and have good production. Here's how I'd rank them from best to least favorite so far FAMT Des Fleurs Roomie Source of Life Are We On A Break I'm The Cake Die For My Art With a Lonely Heart The Bad One DNH I'm Your Girl Right? If I Could I Would Idiot Roomie is very Dua Lipa idk why some people dislike it so much! It's a cute bop, definitely reminds me of Associanu which is probably also why I like it, Sleep When I'm Dead is a mega bop!

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
Kinda like how I see Black Water as a prelude to Aquarius, the appetizer before the full course meal, I view Amethyst as the epilogue to the album, the dessert after the meal. I feel like all 3 projects tie into each other well but the mixtapes definitely revolve around Aquarius in different ways. As much as I love this EP/Mixtape it being shorter drags it down a bit for me, but I also kinda like that because it does give each individual song a chance to shine and be digested more easily. My top 3 here would be Dreams Are Real, Looking 4 It, and Wanderer. Some of her best unreleased too! If we're allowed to include unreleased when talking about Tinashe's best songs Hopeless is easily top 5. Go against NASHE it's gonna cost ya

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
It's not a bad album don't get me wrong, there are good songs! He Don't Want It, Ooh La La and No Contest definitely wash a few careers, but compared to her other bodies of work it kinda just pales in comparison. I get why though because of the stuff she was going through with her label at the time, and that's why I am so thankful she was able to get herself out of there. oh trust me I could tell, I was there when Nashe got scrapped and then she went on DWTS. Thankfully we got Songs For You shortly after and she's been up ever since! Oh and remember her public breakup with Ben Simmons? When he dumped her to get with Kendall Jenner poor girl was going through it in 2017-18. But until today I probably haven't thought of or heard the name Ben Simmons since 2018

i will admit i was VERY late to the tinashe party and didn't listen to Aquarius until early 2018, right before Joyride came out. i was about 15 years old at the time. but i remember listening to Aquarius and Nightride before Joyride came out and was so blown away by how good they were, you can only imagine my disappointment when i listened to Joyride for the first time

https://genius.com/Tove-lo-roomie-lyrics it matches with the lyrics on here too Roomie sounds like a Dua Lipa'd bop, one of my favorites so far

Roomie is mashed up with the intro, right before I'm the Cake starts. it starts at 2:55 in this video

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
Yeah i was talking about Nightride, I guess since it's release cycle was so different from all her other albums I just never really considered it one. But if we do consider it an album then it's by far her best one. And it does make sense then if they're calling it her 8th album

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
Her best traditional album to date for me! I say it like that because her best project imo is technically considered a "mixtape" but I digress. This album really set the stage for her career and I feel like still influences a lot of her present day work. It will always have a soft spot in my heart since it was the first Tinashe album I ever listened to, as All Hands On Deck was the first song I heard from her. I've been captivated ever since! Top 3 for me has to be Bet (which is also a top 3 Tinashe song), All Hands On Deck, and Bated Breath. But honorable mentions to Far Side of the Moon and Wildfire because I feel like those songs don't get the recognition they deserve, they're absolute bangers!!

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
she said her favorite song is track 4 which is "Empty Stadium" and that the last song on the album is a "classic Tinashe last song on the album" and that it's "one of the more personal songs on the album" so I'm guessing it's gonna be in the same vein as songs like Fires & Flames and Remember When, possibly a ballad.
