Tinashe - 'Popstar'
i will admit i was VERY late to the tinashe party and didn't listen to Aquarius until early 2018, right before Joyride came out. i was about 15 years old at the time. but i remember listening to Aquarius and Nightride before Joyride came out and was so blown away by how good they were, you can only imagine my disappointment when i listened to Joyride for the first time

Tove Lo - 'ESTRUS'
https://genius.com/Tove-lo-roomie-lyrics it matches with the lyrics on here too Roomie sounds like a Dua Lipa'd bop, one of my favorites so far

Roomie is mashed up with the intro, right before I'm the Cake starts. it starts at 2:55 in this video

Yeah i was talking about Nightride, I guess since it's release cycle was so different from all her other albums I just never really considered it one. But if we do consider it an album then it's by far her best one. And it does make sense then if they're calling it her 8th album

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
Her best traditional album to date for me! I say it like that because her best project imo is technically considered a "mixtape" but I digress. This album really set the stage for her career and I feel like still influences a lot of her present day work. It will always have a soft spot in my heart since it was the first Tinashe album I ever listened to, as All Hands On Deck was the first song I heard from her. I've been captivated ever since! Top 3 for me has to be Bet (which is also a top 3 Tinashe song), All Hands On Deck, and Bated Breath. But honorable mentions to Far Side of the Moon and Wildfire because I feel like those songs don't get the recognition they deserve, they're absolute bangers!!

she said her favorite song is track 4 which is "Empty Stadium" and that the last song on the album is a "classic Tinashe last song on the album" and that it's "one of the more personal songs on the album" so I'm guessing it's gonna be in the same vein as songs like Fires & Flames and Remember When, possibly a ballad.

probably my favorite of her mixtapes! Love the way this kinda served as an appetizer before the full course meal that was Aquarius. I also love the way she continues to sample/reference this mixtape throughout her career. Top 3 for me is Vulnerable, Midnight Sun, and Fugitive.

Love this mixtape! Definitely a step up in quality from ICWD. Wish she would release this to streaming too, if she re-recorded it that would be even better. my top 3 are Stargazing, Come When I Call, and Ecstacy. she was definitely ahead of her time with Who Am I Working For? I do agree with this point as well. That rough sound that it has is what gives it some charm, and really showcases how far she's come in the past 14 years of her releasing music. But i do think two things can be true at once, the rough production and sound gives it some charm, but it also drags it down compared to her other projects she's released. I'd say it's my least favorite project of hers but is still a 6/10, which is higher than some other girls best projects in my opinion, and she did that by herself at 18 years old!

so far i'd rank the singles like this I'd Rather Be Alone > Pillow Fight > Crash Out = Melatonin >>>>>>>> Too Easy Such a slept on mixtape! I wish she would rerecord it and release it to streaming, as i feel like a lot of the production is pretty dated. I get most of it she produced and wrote by herself in her bedroom, but it's also very apparent some modern production and updated vocals would do so many of these songs justice. Boss, That, and I Tried are my favorites from this mixtape.

a look at all the vinyl variants + the booklet. most of the lyrics for every song have been uploaded to genius now since you can see them pretty clearly in this video.

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
the one of her smoking was dark blue, the bath tub was like a sandy beige color, and the city one was like a slate/gray type color with like a smoky blue marbled color to it, if that makes sense. if you google "Tinashe Popstar Vinyl Variants" they should pop up under images!

Tinashe - 'Popstar'
i completely agree! her starting off with the 1:55 song was such a poor choice even though i do like Too Easy. but seeing her getting her flowers from so many different artists has been so satisfying. I saw Kehlani praising her in the comments for Pillow Fight announcement, also saw Tove Lo using Melatonin in a Tik Tok and they had a cute lil exchange in the comments!

I see that too! I hope we get both, maybe PF this week and IRBA next week?

Tinashe - "Pillow Fight"
that's what i'm trying to figure out too. there's not even a time on when the video drops, I assume noon EST but it'd be nice to have some confirmation

Tove Lo - 'ESTRUS'
FAMT, Source of Life and I'm the Cake for me personally. despite how everyone else may feel I'm looking forward to this album! I just want to hear songs in full studio quality before criticizing them.

Popstar and it's completely different but also still Popstar

Tove Lo - 'ESTRUS'
she already teased it months ago so she's probably just trying to tease new songs we "haven't heard yet"

I agree with your take and her lead single ranking for me would be Disco **** > Cool Girl > Glad He's Gone > Habits = NODFL > IYGR i put GHG so high because it came out during a time where i really needed that message of the song so i'll always have a soft spot for it. IYGR is still like a 6.5 in my eyes, Habits and NODFL are both a 7.5. she's never released a bad lead in my eyes Side note but I saw her reposting tik toks of people using the FAMT snippet, next single perhaps?? That snippet specifically has been stuck in my head ever since she teased it and I need it NOW i hope she gives us at least one last song before the album release even if it comes out days before release.

Tove Lo - 'ESTRUS'
i'm trying not to give two much judgement until the full album releases. i've only heard five three songs so far plus all the snippets. FAMT and source of life sound the best so far, i find i'm the cake to be catchy too it's just very campy. sure the songs aren't very long but i wanna listen to the full thing before fully judging. i doubt this will be her best album, i don't even think this would crack top 3, but i still think it'll be enjoyable enough. for reference my top 3 are Lady Wood, Blue Lips and Dirt Femme.
