Neither did record sales back in the day imo. 24 million people buying Like a Virgin because of the amount of exposure that one song had, but that doesn't mean they even liked the album as a whole It was always weird to me that people saw exposure as success. There's no artistry in that.

I've never heard any K-Pop to be able to agree or disagree but tbh most pop music is like that, and in most of the American pop artists case it can be marketed as personal for it to be some catchy bullshit instead

Definitely Lana Del Rey. She has an interesting mind while Taylor Swift is just really dull, and whenever she does switch things up it seems like it just turns into some childish lyrics. She's probably great for teenagers and that's about it.

I feel exactly the same about her as you do. I generally don't care about most pop artists though, I just lurk to see what's going on in general, so it just feels a bit weird to me that I'm checking for an artist who's music I don't actually listen to or enjoy anymore. I probably overplayed the music back in the day and I did see every performance so it's like of course I can't still listen to The Edge of Glory without it being annoying to me. I do wish I could just take the music and enjoy it because I love Gaga in general but maybe it just became overkill when she's only going to put out music every few years. Another part of it is touring for every album, it means the setlists gets boring because it all runs so slowly lol. If you just take her discography on its own it's just a bit much for every day listening frankly and looking back most of being a huge fan was seeing what she did on a day to day basis as opposed to just taking her music and enjoying it, so I guess if it isn't really about the music it isn't going to last. It was pretty much just fun as a teenager I guess.

Every time she performs her older singles I feel like those Beyoncé fans that have seen her perform Halo so many times that they're sick of hearing it for life whereas I can still enjoy it because I didn't watch every performance over the years but with Gaga I did.

I'm in this weird situation with LG where I wish I could enjoy her music more than I do tbh. I was such a huge fan of Gaga as a teenager that I can't actually listen to her music anymore, it just does nothing for me. Everything I enjoyed of hers once I don't now at all so it's this weird thing where I love her and still see what she's up to in her career but none of her albums are enjoyable for me. I'll always love her and I hope that she comes out with some new experimental music that I think is great but it's odd when all the stuff I used to enjoy hearing I don't want to at all now. It's like I wasted years being a stan lmao. Looking forward to Joker but it's 16 months away anyway
