I feel like you can just SEE they're over it and have been for a long time, and I totally do not blame them one bit. They've been creatively strangled for 7 years - I'd like them to sign under another label that will give them more freedom and actually let them work collaboratively with their producers and, yknow, get credit for their work, but I also understand why they may not feel like doing that. But yeah, I agree they've got the label over a barrel on this one, any contract they might sign with YG is going to be radically different from the first one. I truly believe that this and the DM limiting for unverified users is going to be the death knell of the site - talking to friends in group chats would have been a big reason a lot of people hadn't fully pulled the plug yet but if you can't even do that, I couldn't even send ONE yesterday, what's the point? I really feel for artists (myself included lol) who've now lost a precious avenue for getting their work out to people, and disabled people (myself included!) who've now lost a precious lifeline to being hooked in to a larger community. Nailed it - he's literally just Silicon Valley Trump. Right down to the tendency to just make up random numbers when talking about things. He's obsessed with Twitter to an extremely unhealthy degree, tweeting up to 20 hours a day. He's had this dream of 'X, the everything app' since the PayPal days and has never gotten over being forced out of the company in favour of Peter Thiel for his terrible implementation of ideas and generally being a horrific micromanaging boss. Zip2 (the only thing he ever actually created and it was awful) got bought out by PayPal which is where he got his seed capital from. 0% of his code ended up in PayPal because it was so bad yet his braindead stans will still insist he created that company. In any case, almost 25 years later he thinks he's finally got his chance to show Thiel that he was wrong. Instead he's taken one of the most recognisable brands in the world and completely trashed it. I s2g the moment the button on my phone changes from the bird to the x, i'm uninstalling it. I got my bluesky code so I'm good lol (it's very reminiscent of Twitter circa 2012 or so)

Taylor won't struggle the way some are imagining/hoping she will after the rule change, she's one of the few artists with an insane stanbase that ALSO has mass GP appeal so she'll be fine in the long run. However the 'artist website exclusive remix' trick won't work anymore - for anyone - so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out considering her team def employed those tactics. I'm surprised BB didn't go for a 2-for-1 deal and say that only the first 'remix' counts (or none bc lbr we know why they're being pumped out and it's not for any kind of artistic merit). It's true but that's more a shameful commentary on gossip culture in general back then vs now, there's def been a change for the better as society got more 'woke' (ugh, I hate using this word bc it's been so weaponised but I hope you get what I mean). She has synaesthesia so it's quite possible she has misophonia as well and some noises from the crowd are triggers for it and she would find it difficult to stop herself from doing that - it's not very professional of her though. I have both and lemme tell ya, the struggle is REAL with my trigger noises. eta: both these are more common in autistic people (that's me too) than neurotypical due the brain just being wired differently esp with sensory processing

WHO on earth wants a return of the vocals on Dope, everything about that song is awful right down to the fact that 'dope' as slang for weed was decades out of date when she recorded it. Hope this is a hit for her.
