Thank you so much! I actually thought about having a chorus to tie everything together, but I decided against it in the end because I felt like it'd be more impactful that way. Which I think paid off for this one Thank you so much! Honestly, it was a bit of a challenge as like you said, since it's an anime that already has a musical element attached to it. So, it was a fun to try writing without having it being the same. I thought about incorporating parts of the actual story elements but I wanted the song to have a "prequel" kinda feel, something that Mafuyu experienced before the storyline of the anime. I think that also helped differentiated between my song and the song from the anime Damn, I did not expect a top 10 at all since I haven't cracked the Top 10 at all since the beginning Thank you so much and I'll try my best for the final round! Am not sure which challenge I'd like to take for now, but I feel like it'd be interesting either way. Just want to ask regarding the Nothing Challenge though. Could we do the Nothing Challenge and use past challenges that we never really used? Like for example, I did the multimedia challenge but now I want to try out the Cultural or Historical Challenge. Or try out the earth element which isn't present in my song's imagery at all

With this entry, I figured I'd try to incorporate family (Verse 1 until Chorus 1), religion (Verse 3 until Chorus 2) then ending it on a more hopeful outlook. Am glad it paid off since this was a bit out of my comfort zone Thank you so much for the review! Actually, now that you brought up the "all of them" part, it kinda made sense. When I was writing initially, I was just thinking of how identity represented everything inside of me - basically my emotions, secrets, who I am as a person. Essentially, I'm made to become someone else sorta thing. So, I didn't really think about how it'd sound like from an outsider perspective so thank you for that! Definitely will keep that in mind for the next few rounds I'm also glad you like the method acting line! That was the first thing I thought about when I conceived the "Mask" title, actually I initially was gonna do a happy hopeful ending but I figured it wouldn't be realistic and also because I feel like this was my personal situation atm so it wouldn't make sense for me to end it on a great note.

I think this round would be really interesting, like you said, because I think I'll be going in another direction for this round. Yeah, it feels really good to see people pulling such insane creativity outside of just songwriting ngl Am really excited to see how it progresses ahhh I gotta say, the bridge 2 and the chorus are my favourites from the song! The amount of references here WHEW lordt this is insanely genius For clarity, since I'm done with scamming I guess I should do some charity They know that I'm a legend you should go and check my rarity Kick it then I dip these hoes can't **** with my dexterity Good gosh I love that line specifically but the entire song was so good ugh There are so many lines that I enjoy from your lyrics but the prechoruses are INSANE I love how you twist things around ngl Funny you mention Mariah because I actually had Taylor in mind when I was writing Illusion of Lovin' You I agree with you that the extra word count really helped with the exposition and storyline. Aw thanks a lot Though now that I think about it, I think a slightly darker colour scheme would fit better considering my song's theme Honestly, joining this competition not only helped me practice my lyric writing, but also to practice my graphic design stuff. I've been so busy so I haven't had the chance to do cover arts or designs so it's sorta killing two birds with one stone kinda situation

Thank you so much! It means a whole lot because as I said in my description, this song was unfinished for almost/about 2 years. So to be able to complete it for this round meant a whole lot I also find it nice that my entry this week contrasted from my previous round too. I went the simplistic route, rather than trying an intricate storyline. I'm glad I did that cause I do feel like Mariah tends to nail simplistic but universal themes really well for her singles

Thank you so much! The reason why I decided to keep the hook was because I had a good melody playing in my mind, so I figured I'd keep it since I really love how it sounded in my head. But also, I wanted something simple to contrast the intricacies I had in my verses. But I definitely understand what you mean by maybe reworking it too. Maybe it would've elevated the song even more I'll be honest though, initially I thought about including "The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl" folklore (Check it out here) into the mix for my lyrics but that was a bit of a challenge Maybe could've worked out I think since it fits the theme of the lyrics. But I decided not to in the end because it might have come out a bit confusing I'm screaming at the grammatical error though, I didn't even notice it

I'll be honest, I hesitated with this round because I wasn't sure if I could reach the heights of someone like Mariah's lyricism But in the end, I decided to let it all go and just take inspiration with her style, while also incorporating mine! That mindset helped a ton since I'm almost done with my lyrics now
