I can see the threads connecting now tbh - her need to retreat from the spotlight to create this album, the return to dark hair, the Zane Lowe interview filmed at her old bar, and the album's overall soundscape, all subtly echoing back to Stefani and The Fame. Maybe it's coincidence, but it feels like she was able to tap back into that unfiltered (pre-fame) energy to bring this project to life. And at its core, the album's theme ~REALLY~ seems to center around a fractured version of herself, tying into her past statement about the album cover representing a "return to the pop music her earliest fans loved." Super interesting - it all seems very hyperaware of what it is.

Totally makes sense how Perfect Celebrity was vying to be the album title, it could've been an awesome opener.

Weird mental acrobatics in here. Did you want her to ignore her single which is currently competing for #1? We see this all the time… joint performances… single teasers at the end of MVs.

Album feels so indie sleaze. At times it almost perfectly belongs in 2006. Girl so confusing especially is so MGMT.
