Spotify | Taylor Swift - Patient Zero | Day 17: #15(-8) WW (2.395m), #7(-3) US (721k)
Do you think this is a natural progression? Midnights (2022) - 1.6M -> TTPD (2024) - 2.6M -> TLOAS (2025) - 4M You think Taylor Swift's fanbase (despite getting no smash hit from TTPD) nearly doubled in one year between TTPD and TLOAS? You could argue yeah, even with its excessive variants and tracks, TTPD was released in her peak / eras tour so at least it seemed warranted even if we knew she was pulling excessive variants. But nothing occurred between TTPD and TLOAS that would justify that spike outside of variants and tactics. Mind you, it's now been almost a year and she has not even doubled her opening week numbers yet. Her having the record for highest first week is a joke. It took 30 versions of her album. Adele managed to debut with 3M+ and you knew it was genuine because she had multiple other weeks at 1M+ and was at like 8M by the end of 2015. No one is saying Taylor Swift is not successful. But her achievements are overstated because she always pulls shenanigans. Additionally, no one cares if you debut a song at 30M streams if its at 3M streams in 3 weeks. TLOAS streams are pathetic considering its opening week numbers

I think this all just entertaining because Taylor's chart manipulation tactics are very obvious and her fans ALWAYS try and act like we have no proof that her tactics are the reason for her success. It was VERY obvious the jump the first week was from the music video exclusivity on Spotify and Apple Music and her fans were acting like the song was just smashing Now here we are with the song already out of Top 10 and likely out of Top 20 next week. Luckily she has her remaining shenanigans of physical sales to keep her #1 on the hot 100 but this is why her achievements don't mean anything. They're all fabricated and bought. A tactic here or there is fine even at her status, but EVERY release being riddled with manipulation is just crazy. Even IKIIKY. Charting Top 1-3 despite being in the 60s on AM and Spotify show her team was pulling strings there too. But because Billboard allows it she's going to keep going. The fact that she's had what, 4 hot 100 #1 hits this year? And the only one that felt like one was Ophelia.

The fact that this is gonna fall behind The one that got away, Die with a smile, Man I Need, and likely even training season in the next week or two

Hot 100 | Early look (10/24/26): Patient Zero #1 (x3), Dracula #5, Nicole Kidman #7
It's actually kind of insane that you guys are in support of your fave having so many manipulative tactics for sales just because it's a bragging right

Hot 100 midweek predictions (10/17): Patient Zero #1 again,Drake #5, ADELA #10
And Opalite? It's very clear after Opalite her new strategy will be every single gets a physical release to secure the #1 in the case her streaming is weaker than expected

She shipped her physical sales. Expect her to have physicals for every single now to guarantee a #1

It's very obvious none of Olivia's song have smashed as much as DL/G4U though. The longevity is what shows the reception but they're not huge hits everywhere that are inescapable

I don't ever agree with this logic. It's not that streaming has magically decreased. We've just not had as many big and lasting hits the past couple years because the music has been mid. There's a reason why the charts are full of old hits. The new music is not connecting. 2024 had Chappell, Sabrina, Billie, Taylor, Gaga/Bruno with DWAS, etc. Like it was a huge year with smashes every other week being released. People aren't going to just stream songs they don't like. There's a reason Taylor can still debut high and just tumbles. The listeners are they and they just don't like what they hear and tune out. This has been the case for most major acts. The debuts show the listeners are still there. People said the same thing last year and Ophelia had initial numbers like 2024 smash hits because it was actually a smash.

Another 650k drop. Almost fell to #3 drop is a bit standard for a new song Sunday though unlike that Saturday drop
- A year has passed, TLOAS failed to double its opening week. What happened?
