Explain to Gen Alpha how Katy was able to pull off the "Teenage Dream" era?
Before streaming, you either had to buy the album or buy individual singles off itunes. Clearly TD the album didnt sell a crazy amount. Its because the GP was buying the singles as they were released. And credit to dr fluke the songs were catchy as ****. And credit to katy perry, never before or after did her brand coalesce with her music quite as well. The gp was eating the singles up one after another, the music videos were eating, radio was playing all of them. That synergy is what shes been trying to recapture since then and why she keeps flopping. It only worked in that specific era, with that brand (which was still fresh), and those singles (before dr fluke was cancelled)
