I'm not really talking about Trump or the threat of a coup. I'm talking about a slow transition away from democracy and towards an authoritarian GOP regime, hence the Hungary / Poland / Turkey / Russia comparison. This transition wouldn't start with a 2nd Trump term, it would end with it. We're already in the final stages as they've been laying the groundwork (voter suppression, gerrymandering, courts filled with conservative justices) since the early 2000s.

Certain people still thinking that they'll get another chance to elect a 'real progressive' in 4 or 8 years if Biden loses in November. So naïve. If Americans paid any attention to what's going on in the world, they'd know that if Trump is re-elected, this will be the last (remotely) free and fair election for decades to come. Just look at what's going on in Hungary, Poland, Turkey, Russia or Belarus. Y'all are still betting on this idea that America is special / exceptional or whatever and that what's happening to other countries around the world can't happen to the US. It IS happening, it's BEEN happening for a while and if you allow it to go on for another 4 years, it'll be too late. To a neutral, objective outside observer, America looks like it's going down the exact same path as other democracies turned authoritarian. In 2016, Hillary lost despite winning the popular vote by 2%. In 2020, Biden might lose despite winning the popular vote by 5-8%. With Millions of people unable to vote and Millions of mail-in ballots rejected, arriving late or 'lost'. Give Republicans 4 more years to come up with ways to suppress and manipulate the vote and the 2024 dem candidate will need a 15-20% lead in the polls to actually win the election. That's if he or she is not locked up, shot or poisoned.

I don't think Biden was ever seen as the favorite to win Iowa, even in June? He'll flip Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, Arizona and North Carolina (maybe even Ohio) before he flips Iowa. The Senate poll is more worrying imo.
