I almost always walk up the escalators tho.

 

Let's do it the Singaporean way. People who stand still always stand on the left side of the escalator making space on the right side for the ones who want to walk up. All people in Singapore do that and I think it's such a smart and polite way to function.

Isn't this what everybody does? I find those escalator stairs a huge waste of time.

Moving escalators are made for going up faster than stairs, not stay on them waiting, unless you have an handicap 

it's a form of exercise..

 

also, left half of escalators are for walking (emergency or in-a-hurry purposes) while right half is for standing still

this is common escalator etiquette and for safety standards, avoid overloading and securing smooth flow of traffic

this is a common practice in Asia and some other countries in the west for traffic & safety reasons

Yup but not in chaotic Vietnam

Common etiquette is standing on the right side and walking up on the left. I always walk up escalators unless I'm with rolling or heavy luggage

!!!!!! This is common NYC etiquette except reversed (standing on right, walking on left). Stand on the wrong side during rush hour and get ready for a yelling

They don't walk up the escalators because they're hot.  They're hot because they walk up the escalators.

 

You should try it.

After living in Berlin for 15 years I literally just shove them to the side with my shoulders, not even looking back. Keep it moving, ugly!
