NEX Posted March 28 Posted March 28 1 hour ago, Feanor said: Then perhaps you should browse the thread again, because most of the users who've commented and given reactions disagreeing with Billie and/or calling her out are by users with no Taylor-related names or avis. A lot of members on this site are h*rny to drag Taylor and Swifties into anything and everything. To the point where you can have 1 out of 10 people on a page being a Swiftie and they would still cry foul "Swifties!!!" tears. Unfortunately, it's one of the side effects of Taylor being so huge right now. A lot of people are just allergic and the smallest of things can get them very irritated. 7 2
Lorenzo22 Posted March 28 Posted March 28 using recycled materials is a good start but it doesn't stop the environmental impact of the actual production process. idk if artist are in full control of this but the whole industry needs a change, the music is what's important, not these albums most people now only use as collectibles. 5
liquiddiamonds Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) This matter falls into distribution, which is more of a label issue. An artist would need to have a lot of leverage over a record label to have a strong say on the matter. The thing is that vinyl became the standard consumption for pure sales and there's a lot of revenue to be made these days inside the market. The variations, collectors itens, bonus songs, etc are all very unfortunate and I include the artists I enjoy in the criticism. This is a behavior that will have to change in a few years because it's obviously unsustainable as it is. K-Pop will need to slow down too. It's a lot of trash and it takes decades to fully decompose. Vinyl second hand market is already huge and bloated. People need to understand that when the vinyl bubble bursts that market will become even more saturated, and with physical second hand record stores closing it will mostly become unwanted trash to be disposed or sold online. The production is also tainted af and the factory plants can't even keep up with current demand. It looks bleak Edited March 28 by liquiddiamonds 3
americanlife Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) All of her albums have plenty of pressings and variants, so she's just as guilty. And when artists release all these variants, no one is forcing you to buy all of them. You should just buy whichever color you like best. Variant collecting is the worst. and her using it as an environmental excuse… vinyl records aren't going to burn the planet. Hold big conglomerates accountable, not artists. TROPICUM Posted March 28 Posted March 28 she's one to talk ...but she's right, ALL artists should be less wasteful
Gaia Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Taylor fans acting like different color vinyls is the same as alternate covers and exclusive songs per variant 4 1

This is such a self read and set up, since she has as much variations as anyone and more. This pick me energy is frankly souring af. 2

Galah Posted March 29 Posted March 29 She's right, but her house is made of a bit too much glass to be throwing this particular stone imo. Like using a paper straw on a private jet and Instagramming about doing your part to save the planet. 2
BrandNewBrandon Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) All I see is Swifties complaining about Billie's response because she did the exact same thing in the past like many vegetarians don't eat meat first to later hating it and not eating it just like Billie could potentially not want to do that many variants for her next album because she's aware of the damage while your fave continues to be ignorant and greedy. Edited March 29 by BrandNewBrandon 2 1
GeminiCat Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) Right message, questionable messenger. I love her but Billie, babe, those splatter paint vinyls were definitely greed driven and created for no other purpose than $$$/chart reasons, the vinyl being pressed with recycled materials does not cancel that fact out. The variants thing has definitely gotten out of control tho and I'm glad someone is saying it bc tf does someone like Conan Gray have like 7 variants, help-? Edited March 29 by GeminiCat 1
period sis Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Could've applied to literally every artist out there, yet only one fanbase felt hit. 1

Lol the environent police here. Its getting tired. Its 2024 and you cannot do anyting without other people judging every steps. Like hows about you do you and stop judge other people for not doing the same thing. Like in real life no vegetarian force their friends to be vegetarian like them, they sat there and eating their vegetarian food in peace.

Midnight was a mess with the four versions to complete the clock.
