But Lana really fit the Taylor rhetoric, Dua not so much.

I don't think she should give up on the era at all, if she believes in this album, she should stand by it and try a few more songs. If it ends up being a flop, it is what it is, she will try again for DL4

Yeah. I hope she flops with dignity, maybe a collab next year and then new era starting second half of 2025/2026.

My "exclusive recycled red" from my local store is transparent, not opaque. (I'm the US)

And honestly change labels asap, to either Republic or Columbia. It's clear Warner doesn't care about her career when they payola random tracks by some of their unknown artists, fund expensive MV for flop artists (like how did Ava Max of all people get budget for a Joseph Khan MV) but do literally nothing with their biggest artist's music

IMG_0226.gif?ex=663611ca&is=6634c04a&hm=

Please let us not be delusional and start to blame the label for eveything. Each song was straight to no 1 on TTH on release, even Illusion.

Before it dropped all talk was about the high profile video for Illusion, with massive budget. The revisionism is too much.

And also the thank you note:

Spoiler

thank you

In 2021, a friend of mine told me about the term radical optimism and said that's what the world collectively needed. That term has stuck with me for these past three years and has become more and more relevant to the way I view the everyday. Nothing is ever linear, and sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches. These past years have taught me exactly that. I found my ground while relaxing in instability. I found happiness and joy in the unknown. I find optimism in the toughest days and look to them for growth. Embracing the power of words to be a catalyst for hope, I try to find beauty and meaning even in the midst of chaos.

My third album, Radical Optimism, has helped me grow beyond belief. I'm definitely not the same person I was when I started writing this album, and I'm grateful for every song that's helped me be the person I am today. It has shifted my perspective with every song and made me stronger. I couldn't have made this record without some very wonderful people who have guided me and held my hand through it all.

Thank you to "the band" Kevin, Danny, Caroline, and Tobias for spending countless hours in the studio with me, making the majority of this album with me, and listening to all my mad stories for days on end. I've loved sharing all the laughs and the tears with you. Thank you Wyatt, Ali, Billy, lan, Julia, and Emily, my longtime friends and collaborators. Everything is just so easy, light, and fun when we work together.

Thank you, Cam, for being the best engineer and vocal producer. I was almost about to put these songs out with the sm7 demo vocal because you made it sound so good in the room!!! Thank you Jan, Dani, and everyone at 5db studio, which was my home for the past two years when I wasn't on tour. The room saw me through every season and remained consistent as a safe space I could keep coming back to. (I kept trying to find a similar vibe in other studios around the world, so thank you Woodshed Malibu and Kevin's house for also giving me a safe haven to create).

To my dear friend Joe Kentish, my soundboard, the first person who gets to hear anything I make - ever and is always so brutally honest. I'm so grateful to you for pushing me to get the very best out of myself not just in music but in all areas of my life. Thank you to my label Warner Records for their continued support; Max, Tom, Aaron, Jane, Mike, Alex, Victor, Joel, Theresa, Jess and the global teams.

Thank you to my Dad, Dugi. My right hand, my best friend, my eyes, and ears. Taking on a manager role is no easy feat, and getting to do this with you for the past two years has been one of my life's greatest joys.

Thank you to my girl gang (and Lorenzo): Sofia, Kathy, Maisy, Olivia and Rae, who without my days wouldn't be as organized, adventurous, fun and run on time. Love being on the same brainwave as you. Thank you Peter, I love exchanging ideas with you and seeing how far we can push the boundaries. This is gonna be a fun creative radical ride together.

I want to express my sincere love & gratitude to my amazing fans. Your unwavering support has allowed me to be authentic at every turn. This album is no longer just mine; it now belongs to you. I hope you discover a sense of belonging within it. You guys gave me the confidence to dig a little deeper and I will forever be grateful to you for that courage.

Thank you to my family, my Mama, Rina, Gjin and my friends who keep me grounded through this rollercoaster. I wouldn't be me without you. I might not know what happens next, but as the years go by, somehow it just keeps getting better.

Umm. I dunno. I don't really get that this album is a body of work, it feels like DLC for FN. I like Dua, but there's just something missing with her.

It's ok that she's sorta impersonal, I'm not looking to strengthen a parasocial bond with her or her music, but I feel like I want to see her do something really different. It feels a little too early in her career to be sorta this formulaic already.

Maybe need some more time with it. It's good, but I'm just not excited to revisit it.

I wanted to love the album, especially after loving Houdini so much. The album is sooo flat though omg :chick3: only liked these walls and falling forever besides the singles, the rest are so forgettable…. FN is so much stronger of an album.

The way Anything For Love was about to be her magnum opus for me and then it just ended.

The track had so much potential and she just WASTED IT

Good lord the numbers, a literal disaster. I didn't see it coming because all the singles debuted with good numbers. Sad because I really think the album deserves better

I feel like Dua is not exactly an artist people run out to stream immediately but as long as we get some good playlisting we could be fine

Not this predicted to debut with less than 20M, isn't that like 2/3 of FN?

I'm not seeing enough praise for Maria :biblionny: I know she got some inspiration from her multiples travel to Barcelona and "ibitha"

Dr. Alexander

You can tell she's been hanging around too many fashion houses, designers, and people from that industry.

This album is what you would hear playing while doing a photoshoot, a fitting, or having food and a cigarette on a luxury hotel's terrace in France with your friends after a long day meeting with editors of fashion magazines.

This album was very underwhelming. There are some highlights, but nothing truly memorable. And I am saying this as someone who adores Future Nostalgia.
