In his Instagram post, Jae revealed Coco secretly battled cancer the past few months and was a "true fighter".

“I remember when she told me about her illness a few months ago, I sat in my car crying nonstop. She was suffering from so many different things including cancer. She was a true fighter. She didn’t want her fans and family to worry. I pray that she is in heaven where there is no more pain,” he wrote.

Coco’s sister and ex-manager Nancy later confirmed this, saying that the singer was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

Following her diagnosis, she underwent surgery, but kept her illness from their mum as she did not want her to worry.

“My sister had always been very simple. Because she didn’t have a father, she looked to her husband (Canadian billionaire Bruce Rockowitz), who is 16 years her senior, like a father figure. To her, Bruce is a good father and treats his daughters very well, but unfortunately, he was her husband and not her father. Coco and Bruce tied the knot in a lavish wedding in 2011 after dating for eight years. Rumours of trouble in the marriage began to surface in 2020.

The couple had reportedly been separated for more than a year and planned to begin divorce proceedings in July.

Bruce was away from Hong Kong at the time of Coco's death but rushed back when he heard the news.

 

OMG. And I just started listening to her songs again during the July 4th holiday weekend right before her death. 

 

I never knew much about her, but I knew of some of her English-language songs so I just suddenly remembered her name and started streaming a few of her songs last weekend. Then a few days I googled her name to see what she's up to and saw that she passed away. It was just such a weird, eerie, heartbreaking feeling to learn about her death a few days after reconnecting with her music.

 

And why was "suicide" removed from the thread title? She died by suicide. People need to know what she was going through.

OMG. Breast cancer on top of everything she was going through?

 

Blogs are saying her severe depression and suicide stem from Bruce Rockowitz her cheating husband, surgery and her fertility issues with multiple IVF failures. Coco also had a birth defect with one of her legs because all of her life she can only dance and walk with one and was in chronic pain and then she suffered a leg injury and it worsened. The doctors said it was a miracle that she was able to walk and dance at all.

• Shitty husband who cheated on her
• Fertility issues with multiple IVF failures 
• Pending divorce
• Birth defect in her leg, which required a metal rod to be inserted as a child, causing pain all her life and now getting worse at older age. 
• Injury during dance rehearsal in October, which required a new surgery to fix that defect that was requiring her to learn to walk again
• Stepdaughters who she showered with love abandoning her in her time of need

 

No wonder she was suffering from clinical depression.

I need to give her a discography a good run though because the songs i’ve heard have all been BOPS and she was so talented  I cant

believe i slept on her music for so long
