I'm not a US local and trying to make sense of radios' impact on charts is very confusing. 

 

How exactly do callouts work? Who selects the people and how big are the samples? Is it like an online form to fill in which you you have to rate songs or just say yes or no? How about the pre internet era? Are these people getting paid? 

 

I need answers.

debut mid/ ask labels to pay you, if they dont pay, the song drops low in callouts and force label to pull the plug. 

if label pays, then the songs starts the increse week after week until it goes Top5 on pop radio.
