Hyunjin's hiatus is my worst memory as  K-pop stan. Yes, It's was a darker time than SuperM's announcement (the 2nd place). 

 

I wanted to believe he was coming back for several circustances: the members spent all 4 months doing nothing as a group other than their professional obligations/schedules. They didn't even do a vlive ot7, out of respect for Hyunjin. And at one time or another they included Hyunjin in ester eggs situations that only fans understood to not receiving attacks. Also, JYPE was still releasing a few old footage of SKZ content with Hyunjin included. But at the same time, the community was so negative. A lot of people bringing up other cases JYP artists were kicked out and comparing his situation to Jay Park (who also went to a hiatus before being kicked out), the negative got me sometimes and It made me a bit hopeless.

 

I think Kingdom was somehow important, cause It was distracting me from missing Hyunjin's presence, since the members were doing an amazing job as 7 and giving their all, the whole atmosphere was nice to follow, so It made the time passes faster. 

 

There's my reaction in real-time to Hyunjin's comeback on internet, I will send you in DMs later. But It was a relief, probably one of my peak moments of happiness following K-pop. The day It dropped, JYPE released an article he was coming back to Stray Kids' activities in July and some days later, an article was released to announce their comeback in august after 11 months, so It was back-to-back happiness. 

 

However, when he actually came back, the return was a weird experience for me. Because at one moment he was there with them in the beginning of the year, at another he was no longer there and wasn't even publicly mentioned, at another he was there again as if the hiatus had never existed. It took me months to process his presence in the group again. I always had the feeling that he was going to be kicked out at any moment and probably that's why I couldn't enjoy Noeasy era fully. It was very strange.

I forgot that they almost didn't have a comeback for almost a whole year after their breakout year in 2020 between IN LIFE and NOEASY  The fact that the group didn't release for so long right after their breakout year, was very risky. Though they did have Kingdom filling the gap, and them winning Kingdom really benefitted them in the end, cause imagined if they had lost omg!? Luckily they came back stronger than ever after everything and became the first 1M seller for 4th gen and JYPE with NOEASY
