Outsold Pink venom

Btw, is NewJeans the first one that seem to able to unite users in here. Barely saw anyone targeting them except the clear trolls. The power of good music :clap3:

That's because they are the critical darlings of this thread and they can do no wrong apparently. Their stans in here will all come together and attack you like hyenas, and deem you a hater if you have an opinion about NJ that they don't like or agree with, even if it's just normal criticism  Like they wouldn't survive 1 second if they stanned BP, TWICE, SKZ, ITZY, aespa etc.

------------

Some people in here also need to understand that music is subjective and not everyone will have the same music taste as you! And that's totally fine! I personally think that EVERGLOW has the best discography ever, but you don't see me drag other people who disagree with me

Jungkook is releasing one ep or album and that would be it for him, since he will be leaving for his military duties

NewJeans are here for years to come, how do you see them spreading promo of their singles when they have new ep dropping every six months? they would be promoting non stop then

Attention in July

Hype Boy in September

Cookie in November

Ditto in January??

OMG in March

and now another new era? new single right now (July) and the cycle repeats? it’s just crazy for a group that is active and doesn’t do any hiatuses

you can do that when you release an album like BP did in 2020 - but then we got nothing for 2 years (from the group)

Nope I was talking for their others era not their debut era. I’m aware that their first era wouldn’t have the same impact if they Didn’t dropped everything like they did.

Ditto - December

OMG- February instead of January.
then a hiatus

A new single in the end of July or august and then album in September.  It’s definitely not a crazy cycle. Way less demanding than promoting everywhere 3 TT + an album at the same time

Pink Venom is the best D4 iteration. Let‘s not.

But Yes Shut Down. Yes Quality.

Nope I was talking for their new era not their first era. And if it was the case Hype boy and cookie would have drop at the same time alongside the album. Only Cookie mv would have dropped a month later (like LSRFM did for their B side).

How can you say that when HYLT exist :dies:!
Pink venom should have been a b side since it’s not even better than Pretty Savage! Only PV first part with Jenlisa , the chorus and the bridge and  outro are memorable

I feel like these groups are the most critically acclaimed in this thread:

  1. NewJeans
  2. IVE
  3. LE SSERAFIM
  4. SNSD
  5. Red Velvet

The most panned groups in this thread: :shakeno:

  1. NMIXX
  2. ITZY
  3. TWICE
  4. BLACKPINK
  5. GIDLE

Imagine being called "nugu" in Korea apparently, and yet still selling out arenas for fan meetings in that country :clap3:

disagreed :deadbanana2: PV sonically is one of the very few ACTUAL love letters to Y2K from the production to the lyrics to the styling. Flawless chorus, flawless delivery, flawless instrumental.

HYLT is almost just as sickening and the outro, especially paired with Its visuals in the MV, is a career highlight in it self HOWEVER overall PV just OUTSELLS. Their most non commercial and left field take on music so far (casting aside Lalisa) and it paid OFF.

aespa might have a lot of stans in here, but they also have a lot of haters who always drag them and compare them to BP etc. The Girls era is a proof of that and they were basically a laughing stock in this thread when NJ, IVE and LE SSERAFIM were smashing last year.

To be critically acclaimed you have to praised constantly without barely receiving any hate etc.

The y2k parts you’re referencing are only the chorus and the rap parts, which are what I mentioned as memorable. What is y2k in Rosé and Jisoo parts :deadbanana4:?

The instrumental on Chaesoo kinda ruin the song. They should have sampled Buttons (which seems to be one of the inspiration) instead of adding the unnecessary guitar sound.

Also What is y2k in PV styling outside the beige/dune/ mad max outfits?

The mv is so incohesive, it’s one of their worst. One set look like KTL, and the dune and the outro sets which were the best are not used enough…

HYTL>>>> PV

Pink Venom was fun but it aged like milk in a month

This remix outsold tbh :coffee2:

The "KTL" set outfits are just as Y2k as the dune ones. The early 2000s aesthetic isnt one dimensional.

That being said this discussion makes no sense bc a) BP has always been y2k'd their entire career from the sound to the styling. b) doesnt make the song any better.

I just live for the raw and edgy instrumental of PV. Very unique and never been done before in the current kpop climate.

Also Buttons IS one of the songs that come to mind when you listen to PV. You don‘t need to feature it tho to evoke the feeling of it being referenced.

Outrageous by Britney also comes to mind for me.

That being said this close up musical analysis makes no sense on KTRL bc we could write essays about it so lets just say PV gives me more nostalgia and is, for me, a better crafted song.

this felt like listening to Sticker for the first time :rip:

this is so cute

the staging and the remix all fit the summer camp vibe

ador is so good with concepts

I thought I heard fans barking lol but luckily its some dog in the neighbourhood :hoetenks:

I personally HATE Sticker but I appreciate it for being the definition of risky camp.

What's more, despite being weird, it's still one of the most iconic and remembered NCT 127 title tracks ever. Will Pink Venom be as remembered among other BP title tracks in a few years? I really doubt it when they have D4, KTL (although I despise it even more), HYTL, AIIYL in their discography, to name a few.

Even Typa Girl, one of their worst bsides and a cheap Money copy, is shaping to be more iconic with its choreo and viral fancams :coffee2:

What is y2k in this set for you? Bc imo, outside Jennie and Rosé hair and Lisa pant nothing reminds me the y2k style? Jisoo and the dancers especially.

Also I don’t think BP have always been y2k all their career. Songs like Bombayah, PWF, D4, KTL, HYLT and LSG are definitely not!

I think it’s interesting to have this discussion. PV mv should totally have been an homage to the y2k era.

Agree :clap3:

You can MOST certainly hear 2000s hip hop in MOST of blackpinks title track. How do you NOT hear 2000s hip hop in HYLT?
