Miley Cyrus - "Flowers"

Recommended Posts

Miley is smashing because the song is a SMASH. Simple as that. Just like how random songs from unknown artists smash instantly.

It has nothing to do with her star power. So there's no need to use her previous debut to prove that this is "fraudulent"

I am happy for her and I hope this leads to a successful era/album too and not just a successful single:clap3:

I never ever ever thought this song would blow up like this, but she deserves it so much :clap3: My gym class teacher was singing it in between sets and put it on after cool down, the gp is here for it :WAP:

It grew on me so much too. The video reallt helped me fall in love with the song. When I have it on while I'm walking all I can imagine is me dancing to it like Miley :gaycatina1:

% Share of Global Top 10 Streams since release:

Fri - 13%

Sat - 16%
Sun - 20%

Mon - 25%

Tue - 26%

This highlights the growth rate she’s had over the past 5 days. She’s extending her lead over the rest of the top 10 each day due to the exponential growth rate, the other songs in the Top 10 just can’t compete.

She does, however, have much stiffer competition to overcome than other previous big releases (Shakira is also pulling in insanely big numbers) and this is diluting her overall share. Overall streams across the Top 10 are up significantly, in some cases there are around 20M~ more streams across the Top 10 atm compared to the some of those big releases on the dates below:

Fri 1st Apr 2022 - Harry Styles - As It Was - 35%

Fri 15th Jan 2021 - Olivia Rodrigo - Drivers License - 31%

Fri 15th Oct 2021 - Adele - Easy on Me - 32%

Period. Sure, label support might have had something do with it, but Midnight Sky wouldn't pull this numbers even with the best label out there behind it. Flowers is simply a great song.

her last album debuted with 60k... its totally normal to question these numbers.

hoping these numbers keep increasing :clap3: wonder if she can get close to 20M on friday. the numbers she's pulling here in germany are absolutely insane :jonny:

How much did Kim Petras last song did before Unholy?

How much did Bebe Rexha's last album/song did before I'm Good?

How much did Meghan Trainor's last album did before Made You Look become a worldwide hit?

Where did Bad Liar and Fetish peak before the success of Lose you to love me?

I personally don't like it much but the formula obviously screams SMASH HIT. It's a safe sound and it isn't a horrible song. It's an instant HIT

I have NEVER seen an English song perform this well in Latino countries right off the bat! This song is truly special!

I was just sitting outside on the balcony of my apartment complex and heard someone blaring this from their speakers downstairs :jonny: the streaming farms and apartments are in full swing!

It's just so funny for me to see people doubting these numbers...:bibliahh:

This is LIITERALLY the first release she has that has proper playlisting and radio deals. She's smashing all around in all dman plataforms and people keep thinking and bringing the "suspicious" narrative

Y’all seem to forget Midnight Sky had a chorus where she sung about making out with a woman. :dies: Radio is still conservative trash, the GP was never gonna make it a hit. This song is way more GP-friendly and she has good label support now. She’s always had the star power and the talent. Now that it’s all come together, it’s no surprise she’s smashing out of the gate.

I don't think the smashing is because of the "star power". Or we would've seen huge numbers in her previous era as well.  I think It's more due to the song being a literal SMASH. It was bound to do well. And with a good label, the exposure for the song made it an instant smash

Flowers' success may be unprecedented in the streaming era, but not in pop music history.

Before Believe, Cher was stuck doing TV commercials for mail-order products to keep her name alive in media. Her 1995 album didn't even make it top the Top 50 of Billboard 200, but Believe became a massive hit worldwide and the album was big as well.

I'm not trying to compare them, we don't know how ESV will perform yet, but people here seem to struggle at the concept of a comeback.

Spilled. This really is her FIRST well-handled streaming era release EVER... these numbers are simply showing us her star power and legacy at full display. No more blacklists, no more sabotage, no more bs.

Is it surprising? Yes. But it's certainly not fraudulent or suspicious in any way. Miley is simply a legend and I'm glad everyone will finally be able to see that objectively

That was my point. She’s always had the star power and the presence. But she didn’t have a song that was a smash that appealed to the GP and she certainly didn’t have a competent label to help push her music. Now that the star power is combined with a palatable single and good promo, she’s inevitably smashing- proving it’s not crazy that she’s smashing. She’s always had it in her- she just didn’t have adequate support/material

I’m happy for Miley but I can’t get into this. It’s not that it’s generic but it’s simply not catchy for me either

I do like the lyrics though! And the bridge is alright. Let’s just hope we get some bops on the album
