seancarter Posted January 18, 2023 Share Posted January 18, 2023 not sure why people are so shocked by this success, this is easily the most radio friendly song Miley has done in the past decade.. yes its not the masterpiece that midnight sky was but midnight sky didn't cater to the GP the way this. this is a safe radio formula instant hit.. the minute I heard it I thought of maroon 5 singles and bruno mars... is it the best of her discography ? no but its certainly a good song.. and if this is what it takes to put Miley in the discussion with Taylor and Olivia and Adele.. I liked it a lot on first listen and I’ve been bopping since it came out, but then my personal trainer mentioned she loved the song and she doesn’t know **** about the pop girls and never likes their music, but she stanned this. So I came to this thread only to find out it’s absolutely stomping on records held by two of the biggest artists of all time and one of the biggest smashes ever. Good for Miss Miley. I see comparisons Bangerz vs TTT/Prism, and i feel Miley's next single will most likely fall in the latter category. Flowers will be more successful than We Can't Stop, and on par with Roar/WFL + the lead single release date is again more similar to Roar/WFL, it's closer to the album release than We Can't Stop was. However, really anything is possible here, and if they wait for March or album release date for the next single, it might actually get enough room to breathe. It’s not atypical for songs to grow Tuesday-to-Wednesday, the average increase again is usually only around the 100/200k mark. Nothing about this release has been usual, though. The rate of growth has slowed down and I imagine it will continue to shrink, but I don’t think the song has yet peaked. I would expect another increase tomorrow, but possibly around the 1M or less mark. I am just guessing though. I could be proven completely wrong. It would be a BIG ask, but it is feasible. She would need to do 19M~ streams for the next two days… her average daily increase so far has been 2M~ so it’s not completely out of the realms of possibility. The thing that’s makes me think she won’t quite do it is the growth rate slowing down below the 2M+ mark. But.. it’s insane to think she could come close.
