Remember prior to the streaming era, when artists actually had to audition for the executives of each record label? If they already had a demo tape completed, they still had to audition to see if they could actually perform.

 

I think if they would bring this back instead of snatching up people from social media, we’d have actual superstars from this generation.

Agreed! That’s why we have so many one hit wonders again. It’s bc most sat on their ass and got ppl to follow them. Many due to looks

Wow, I didn’t know that they don’t still do this, that’s enlightening.

 

They really should do both methods, because focusing all onto social media doesn’t do a lot of artists any favours. Some artists aren’t naturally good at social media like they are at music, look at Frank Ocean for example.

Sure.

Labels also need to stop roadblocking artists (example Kim Petras) from releasing the music they want to.

Just let them flop if they are going to. Preventing them from releasing any music at all is a dumb move....

Lana got her record deal after doing multiple concerts at bars or small venues. They knew she could perform, it only became a problem once she had media backlash and started performing at bigger venues or tv shows with bigger audiences, giving her some kind of social anxiety.

Anything to stem the flow of these talentless social media hacks  Please invest in developing real artists
