NARAS loves Xtina. Liberation got 2 Grammy nods even though it was barely promoted.

I don't think validation from an institution with heavy corruption accusations and blatantly racist biases should be something worth bragging about. 

 

There are significantly more relevant and credible metrics to celebrate the acclaim of an artist's work, from the opinions of music critics (especially now in the age of poptimism and where previously ignored demographics finally have a voice and platform), public praise from peers + legendary veterans, and fan support. Not to mention the impact and influence on younger artists. 

 

By contrast, love from NARAS, especially for artists constantly ruling the General Field, just means your fave either has strong connections with members of the voting body, or makes music safe and 'inoffensive' enough to be enjoyed by a bunch of narrow-minded old white people. I'm sorry - and it's not the artists' fault, but it's just how it is. This does include some artists I love like Bruno Mars, Adele, and Taylor Swift, but the majority of my faves had their few Grammy awards not even televised since the categories weren't deemed 'important enough' by the Academy, and their careers were better off not pandering to them or craving their recognition.
