skankle Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Sm3gan should be the real target for coordinated artsy fartsy shitlisting. Screech 6 was a fun gal when you ignore the parts that weren't people getting stabbed.

Leptine Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Since I can't participate to the rate this would have been my top3 this year: 1. When Evil Lurks; The movie managed to make me kind of uncomfortable with some scenes which is not easy these days, it felt fresh when it comes to this genre, my only issue with the movie was the fact I found the second part weaker when they should have went with more gore crazyness and with a more bang-unexpected finale instead; 2. Talk to Me; The movie had a new fresh approach with the overdone theme of spirits, it was overall great; 3. Evil Dead Rise; Solid new chapter for a cult franchise, Alyssa Sutherland killed it.

Same reason of the A24 one, I haven't seen enough movies from this year and I don't have time (and interest honestly) to catch up with the rest of movies, I only watch the ones who gets more buzz and better reviews these days.

The first month of the year is almost over so it's time to take a look back at the previous year. As a 2023 horror year apologist, I took it upon myself to host our (now) annual horror rate. RULES - Send me a list (thru PM) of your 20 favorite horror movies from 2023, ranked from most favorite (#1) to least favorite (#20). - You may also send me a (****) list of 3 movies you absolutely despised, in no particular order. Ballots with Scream VI on the **** list will be discarded. - We are not strict on release dates. Movies that made festival rounds in 2022 may still be submitted as long as they had a wide release in 2023. - Deadline of submission is on February 14, 2024. RESOURCES - You may use this handy dandy Letterboxd list to catch up on 2023 horror films you may have missed. - You may also watch The Ultimate Horror Guide from Spookyastronauts for a comprehensive list of 100 horror films that made noise in 2023. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or clarifications.
