The problem is that some in this thread sounds more like haters than actual fans to me.

Everything you have mentioned or claimed she should be doing she hasn't been doing for years now. When was Mariah's last really great live performance? Infinity at Disney world?  When was the last time she look comfortable on stage? 2009?

her "fans"have make enough YouTube videos of her lipping and dubbing so I'm sure people who spend money know that she lipsyncs.

It's just frustrating coming into a thread for fans and see them complaining about the same thing every time.

I mean I wouldn't say she's been like this for a long time. This is quite literally the first ever concert of hers that is, besides two/three lines, fully lipped. That's pretty extreme even for her standards.

The histrionics in here. As if she was suddenly going to sing everything live after the increased lipping in the last couple of years?

The show was entertaining, sold out, the crowd enjoyed it, great set list, the lipping was more convincing, reviews are strong. Complaining about lipping is ridiculous at this stage - she's 55 and her voice has worsened in the last 2-3 years. Celine was still lipping 2/3 of her most recent shows.

I blame Jlo's brujería.

If she was going down, she was taking Moo with ha.

The best part is when she called Christopher Buckle  to stage. So clear and strong and resonant.

cool interview

Quote

"There's just something about that time period and about everything that went into my work, my music, and my life at that time that really is the essence of who I am,” Carey tells Rolling Stone over Zoom in between wardrobe fittings for Mariah Carey: The Celebration of Mimi Live in Las Vegas, the residency she kicked off at Dolby Live at Park MGM on April 12 — and the reason she was so curious about the whereabouts of that sign. (“She actually wanted us to look for it in storage,” the singer's longtime musical director Daniel Moore notes. "We definitely tried, but we couldn't find it so we had to recreate it.”)

Quote

"The idea was brought to me about doing a residency in Vegas and I just thought, 'Hm, do we want to do that?’” Carey recalls. "I was going to do it in the traditional way. And then when I thought about doing the Celebration of Mimi and bringing back the songs — many of which I'd never performed — I just thought, 'That's the way to do it.’”

Quote

Carey opens The Celebration of Mimi with her debut single "Vision of Love,” released in 1990. "That's why we did it the way we did it where we start at 'Vision of Love' in the black dress. It's a little bit different than the original black dress, but you know what I mean — we just started with that vibe. And then it connects to everything and we get to Mimi,” she says. This makes arriving at The Emancipation of Mimi on the hours-long setlist taste even sweeter. Her tenth album, the record followed 2002's critically divisive Charmbracelet and unlocked something restorative within Carey. The pivotal, pop-dominating comeback debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 404,000 copies sold in its first week and spawned two chart-topping singles with "Don't Forget About Us" and "We Belong Together.”

Quote

But when Carey sifts through her memories from that defining era, what stands out is how free she felt. "I know that's the whole theme of it all,” she says. "But it really is being free and feeling emancipated.” The singer was able to reflect more deeply on the album when planning for The Celebration of Mimi began in January 2024. It marks Carey's fourth Las Vegas residency and her first since The Butterfly Returns closed at Caesars Palace in 2020 after nearly two years. "It's been a lot of years — and I don't like to count years,” she says. "But it's been something that I've really been able to just sit back and listen to and then rearrange and figure out exactly how the show's going to be — as opposed to a record, or a single, or an album.”

Quote

Carey prefers to operate in a space of timelessness; she and her camp are reluctant to place the emphasis on the anniversary of a nearly two-decade-old, career-defining album. Instead, they're focused on celebrating Carey herself. "It was about: How do we find the journey, musically through the lyrics and transitions, to get to Emancipation? The whole show isn't just Emancipation,” Moore continues. "It starts with telling you the story of how she became an artist from day one, all the way to what those experiences were like and why she felt the need to be emancipated. And then here we are, celebrating.”

I do agree some people here are doing a little too much, based on recent history idk what some of yall were expecting :rip:

she seems to be in a good place and the setlist was fun, at least she's digging a little bit deeper into her catalog. all things considered idk what else we can expect from her at this point

No one is delusional though. Y'all are the ones expecting live vocals, choreography and energy from Mariah Carey in 2024. Lol

Yeah it's so unreasonable to expect some live effort from a legendary singer. But hey, let's stan her new lipsync vocals. :chick1:

To give live vocals repeatedly on social media to tease the show specifically, giving the illusion of a live show instead of a Britney Spears show and then it's actually a lipfest is very messy and she should be SUED

Not to be crass but. Whitney succumbed to her addiction, rest in power; Celine has an awful disorder; Mariah has spent the last few years solidifying her legacy and getting the respect she deserves back (look at her reception at the Grammys) so let her do her thing. The people seeing the show do not care

like I've hated with yall for years so I can't believe I'm defending moo like this but cmon man :jonny2:

On this point, it's really sad because I feel like she's been the one who taken the most care of her voice as an instrument. I hope the best for her, I'd love for her and Mariah to still sing live together some day.

I am very concerned about her. Her energy level is alarming. She doesn't even have the energy to open her mouth wide enough to sing at this point. She's lipping way more than usual, her continuously looking at the monitor as if she hasn't been singing these records for the past 20+ years, the weight gain, her immobility on stage.

This is very scary. What's going on with my girl…
