Mandalay Posted April 4 Posted April 4 X'girlfrienf is actually a bop. It just suffers from 1999-demoish production cos she rushed the album. 'Did I do that?' has great lyrics. 'Lovestory' is cheese, pretentious, and everything common.
Funnyfatty Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I saw in another thread that Memoirs is one of the most expensive albums out there. I was proud for a second but then I realised, she writes most of her songs. What can it be that they did spend so much money on?

Saddy Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Did I mention Mariah unbanned me on twitter? I guess she realized that my AI pics weren't that bad

And Did I Do That is actually a strong song because it's unique, IMO. Her worst are the 08-09 corny songs. Bye Bye, Last Kiss, 100%, the Pat Carey duet. Also Standing O and Auld Lang Syne.

Tricky Stewart and The-Dream did the entire album, and they were coming off of iconic hits like Umbrella and Single Ladies. 1
goldenrainbow222 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 (edited) Memoirs is in her top 5, I mean HATEU and Angels interlude alone. I wish she hadn't been so wrapped up in wanting to prove herself as an actress; she completely abandoned promo for Memoirs mid era to focus on promoting Precious. Add to that they tried to adult up her image by having her performing with the debut era curls and modest outfits and pushing the hell out of I Want To Know What Love Is. It's like they didn't learn from Bye Bye that gp wasn't checking for adult contemporary ballads from her. Then Angels Advocate never came because of the low sales. Damn near perfect album take out a few unnecessary tracks for length (I didn't need The Impossible tbh, it's great but too clunky where it is being so late in the track list). I would have gone: Obsessed HATEU Standing O/Angels Cry Ribbon/Candy Bling/It's A wrap Damn this album still holds up!! So many potential hits on there. She should've released Einstein in 2007 summer and exclude Bye Bye. She shouldn't have never married Nick. Einstein, while being her worst album, had hit potential. Memoirs was never going to appeal to the masses. It's cohesive and everything but you get what I mean. Still, Mariah at that time being a top-tier pop star wouldn't have thought it will flop, and continued spending money on it.
