The rewatching value of this film is crazy. Oh JFAD the masterpiece you are!:giraffe:

Truly is the ARTPOP film version! People will appreciate it after 5~10 years! Sadly only few will get it.

I remember in ARTPOP era, a monster offered blowjob to support "Applause" lmfao

"a" monster? That was 80% of the fanbase at the time, me included sis

Not even a repost Instagram story :ahh:I low-key love how she's paying dust to the movie :ahh:not because it's getting bad reviews, but because she knows the director did her dirty.

I wonder if she has any promo slots lined up for next week that we don't know about yet? I know she's having a quiet weekend it seems but if she's got things lined up she won't cancel them. I really hope she and her team have decided to announce next week even if she's not releasing until the 18th. It means if she does have promo she can start talking a bit more openly about the musicality of LG7 and build hype there.

Or if she has no promo planned then let's roll on another week of silence, I guess.

No promo, no interview lined up from what i am currently seeing. Maybe a release of that secret live harlequin concert 4 days ago that is rumored to contain LG7 hints? Otherwise, she will need to take advantage of that "week of silence" to throw some teaser or hint here and there

Just finished watching, it was not nearly as bad as made out to be :rip: that was honestly pretty enjoyable! I'd give it a solid 70

Spoiler

Without the makeup there's literally nothing in this movie that connects it to the comic books so I'm not shocked people are hating it. The biggest issue of the movie was marketing it as anything but Arthur's trial with some musical numbers in there. Gar is unfortunately supporting without a doubt :monkey: I didn't even mind, it's just the marketing made it seem like she would be a lead but she was never anything more than an instrument in Arthur's character development. I would honestly consider this a trolling attempt by Todd if it weren't for the fact that this will surely end his directoral career.

Not one of the greatest and most influential directors of all time praising this movie :deadbanana2:What if we're all wrong and it's actually a masterpiece?

Addison Rae agrees!

But yeah, I think it's nowhere near as bad as the reception it's getting (saw it today). Parts of it are a slog, but all in all I actually respect the effort and what it was conveying, how relevant it is to our times. There's a lot of interesting stuff here, it was just Toad's delivery that was flawed- it needed better writing and he probably shouldn't have kotowed to Joaquin's last minute rewrites as to have a more firm, concise vision. I think Toad was treating this like a improv comedy since he's a 00s comedy director, but I think it was to the films detriment. Also have to consider possible studio interference - like I said I really need a old school Vanity Fair in-depth article about the making of it. There were parts that were really good though, especially the courtroom fantasy sequence (Joaquin & Ga had chaotic sexy chemistry there, wished more of the movie had that vibe IMO). All in all, the onus was on Toad tho.

I think it'll get reappraised after a while, at least as an interesting misfire. I saw quite a few twitter posts defending it, especially in the wake of that article about studios trying to assemble groups of fans to vet and advise franchise movies (likely going to result in even less interesting material going forward).

Also there were a lot of people at my screening, not as packed as Barbie (lucky to get seats for that one & had to sit front row), but about the same amount as when I saw Killers of the Flower Moon, which was decent. No one groaned or walked out lol, so at least there's that.

iGaga literally transformed herself for the role, made a companion album, promoted the film, was so excited for it only to be relegated to 35 minutes. Of course she is disapointed hence the no promo on social media and stuff. She clearly LOVED her character but was shook by the edit which cut her out the film significantly.

anyways, I'm excited to watch the movie next weekend at last! It'll be hell having to wait that long lol...still happy she did the film. Exposure is good and her acting was good apparently.

I need Gaga in a Funny Girl type of movie but minus singing because we dont want her type cast. Give us big romance or drama or something! No comedy or thriller just yet because she can always do those types of movies later on but now that she is stil la viable leading lady give us a classic rom com or intense romantic drama again. ASIB cant be her only one. We need more! those roles are usually always classics for their leading lady

I still wonder what it'd be like if Gaga was an actual active actress who could create an acting fanbase. 3 movies in 7 years is nice, but it's very singer dabbles in film for acclaim. Like imagine she pulled a Sinatra and just spent a few years popping out movies (think he did around 15 films during the 50s).

Cher did this too in the 80s. She focused on acting and did not release na album in 5 or 6 years.

To my sisters who actually adore Harlequin like me... should I buy the Target exclusive on Friday? I love the cover, but I already have the store-exclusive. Ugh

Ddd I just went to her IG to see if she said anything and it's just silence. :ahh: That's why all of this is just funny. If Ga's not bothered, neither am I.

I would actually love that if she manages to release some droplets here and there like DWAS, one or two droplet a year between all her acting gigs. It'll be good for her music career too, she can experiment with different producer without the burden of making an entire new album. If she finds someone she likes to work more with, she can make an album.

Yeah but Sinatra's run was wild. I forget the exact number and I'm too lazy to look it up, but dude starred in like 8 successful back to back movies, won an acting Oscar, etc. all while still releasing new albums every year. This was like 53-56. He was around Gaga's age too, probably a bit older.

It would be nice for Gaga to do a movie where there doesn't seem to be so much pressure on her (not sure if that's even possible). IDK what kind of movie that would be but yeah.

I feel like this is the only good thing coming out of this mess. I don't think she will stop being offered roles, but there will be less expectation (don't mean it in a bad way) and pressure over her head.

I think maybe the pressure has come from her being selective with her roles? If she jumps into a few movies to spread her wings a bit, the pressure will decrease.

Exactly this. Gaga is incredibly picky with her roles and they've all been Oscar bait / award season releases as well.

So excited to see what her next role will be. Me wants a complete normal woman, no clown, no murderer, no pop star, no evil female dracula. Next role: a troubled but ordinary woman we see everyday on the streets.

I adore her acting skills and I am sure she is a wonderful actress, but let's be honest, there were still sentiments of Gaga in her roles so far (this is a compliment because Gaga is such "every icon" that she is). What I am trying to say is that Gaga had already tried the looks and the styles of the Countess, Ally, Patricia and Lee even before she played those roles. She is such a chameleon.

So a completely stripped down normal woman is actually sth different for Gaga maybe?

Spoiler

It felt like Gaga had a fair amount of screen time & prevalence. Definitely a strong supporting role & maybe can pass for lead if they wanted. What are these "cameo" comments about? :rip:
