I’m so over her picking the wrong song and then it undermining the entire era‘s commercial performance. She did it with both Joanne and Chromatica (and tbh ARTPOP.) Whoever told her to release PI should be fired. She really needs to have a big hit to head into this cycle so she can then focus on the movie after. I guess I'm a bit pessimistic dd. Chromatica opened with 274k, 205k of those were pure sales. I remember someone here doing some calculations (I think @Pop Art?) and finding out that about 30-40k of those were from the tour bundles. The market is obviously much worse now so I don't see her selling as much. The album also did 87M on-demand streams with a big hit and some help from the blinks. All this to say that cracking 200k would be really great for her though. Let's hope they pick a good lead single. Edited January 22 by State of Grace. 1

So what is the correlation that we're getting close to the release? it's just delusion (and i guess all of them being relatively simple, dark outfits with sunglasses? lmao) 1
robattack332 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Hmm..somehow I'm not really worried about an all black aesthetic 5

Canonical Ensembl Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Ngl, BTW Foundation longevity is sort of impressive
Artur Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Do we have any interview where Gaga or people from her team talk about Replay? Writing process, song's story, anything.

I think the first Chromatica era magazine interview before release mentioned the grave lyric. And she explained it. Dont have time to find it though. 1

Quote BURNS: I'd already begun working on the "Replay" instrumental outside of the Gaga project. Before I played it to Gaga and Blood, it was a sketch I had based around a sample from the Diana Ross record “It’s My House.” When BloodPop heard it, he suggested I rework it to fit a song they had started writing together called “Replay” …. It was the last song we finished for the album, I think. https://ew.com/music/lady-gaga-chromatica-behind-the-scenes/ BloodPop, Burns, etc briefly talked about the album's creation in that interview. 2

She always serves attitude and heels right before her next lead single randomly. I think so, too. Out of all the photos, this is the one that makes it seem like a release might be imminent. Funnily, I think the reaction has been pretty tepid from the fanbase. We've been through way too much.

I’m sure it makes for a good tax write-off But in all seriousness, it does do some good. Indya Moore has talked about how the foundation helped them https://news.yahoo.com/indya-moore-shares-lady-gaga-182212766.html

Jose Alberto Posted January 22 Posted January 22 She likes to announce on Tuesdays normally... what if she announces the announcement?? I mean, imagine she posts artwork of a black heart!! I think I'm delirious already... It's because we're close to February!!

Yeah I calculated Chromatica debuted with around 213K - 226K units without tour bundles, Rain On Me, and Sour Candy (anyone interested can find the breakdown of my math here), but she also had merch bundles that surely made up a large part of that number that there's no way to calculate. Unfortunately, bundles don't work as freely as they did in 2020, but Billboard did recently start allowing them to count again in a limited capacity I believe, so I'm hopeful they will follow the route they did last time and utilize every available avenue to maximize LG7, both its debut and beyond. One mistake they made for Chromatica (that was likely due to COVID and not their fault) was not having an array of vinyls ready upon release, which I hope they can ensure doesn't happen this go around. If they play all their cards right, I personally think a 200K+ debut is possible, but not guaranteed. 3
