Despite being somewhat anxious, I find the suspenseful way she is treating this time interesting. With Witness and Smile she broke many expectations in a very early and uncritical way and perhaps this will be healthy for the next album.

 

For me, it's better for her to give the first hint on Tuesday to release it properly with the music video on Friday. If this happens to give us a Grammy performance, we could be about 2 weeks away from a public announcement.

I will never understand this thought process. She could have been so much higher than 40 had they sent it to radio - and these days a high debut is probably all we can hope for  might as well capitalize on it. Also daily reminder than NO SONG was promoted on album release. Nothing on TTH or anything similar. I hate her team so much but let me shut up

And the fact that Cry About It Later actually had a decent debut with only the New Music Friday. The visuals on that song were very classic Katy Perry too. With TTH and radio, it actually charted on Hot 100. But if we're being honest it would've looked a lot like Daisies in terms of chart run though.

The main problem with Smile was Daises itself (the song, oc). Daisies is such a bland song with no a strong chorus, releasing that in Katy's position was a very bad move.

CAIL (which is not my favorite) could have done so much better... at least on streaming.

 

I'm still think CP was actually Katy's sound for that era though...

Cry About It Later was the best best for a actual hit on that album that wasnt released previously like the other singles. It was produced by The Weeknds team too.
