I've been obsessed with this performance for days now:

Does anyone know where I could find a studio version (if it exists)?

No studio version, just the live audio ripped from the footage.

Ugh she looked stunning that night, 5 outfit changes, full hair and make up too.

Now we get 5 outings a year at most.

Oh and what people don't know is she stepped up at the last minute for that, she wasn't supposed to sing that song. I don't remember what happened to the person who was supposed to sing it. She learned the words and everything in a short period of time and slayed. It was a talk here in France for a bit.

The album/tour every other year looks like that's the one prediction we're getting right so far.

She's more than likely doing just that.

The most frustrating thing is her new "I'm not doing anything for free" attitude. But that's why I don't care if her albums/songs stay in the top 10 of any chart and honestly why I don't care about her winning certain awards that her, jay z and Parkwood have made abundantly clear that they want. If you're done playing the game, fine, but the industry isn't just gonna bend to your new rules. Be so ******* fr.

The music and talent is still 10/10 and that's why I'm still here. Dassit.

Very fair take.

I find myself torn between the factually "unfair" angle of her constantly being passed over for certain accolades (e.g. at the Grammys, which pretends to be a meritocracy while showcasing very racially problematic behavior) and your very justified articulation of how she doesn't play the game and thus doesn't win what she could and should.

She's been in the game long enough to know that music is but a fraction of the music industry and she knows way more than we ever could about what's needed to make these award wins happen. At the same time, when they keep making her "most nominated" and even "most awarded" only to keep snubbing her for the major honor/s, it's easy to see the frustration.

It's all rather sticky because I'd bet that a big part of why she doesn't "campaign" her albums in the traditional sense anymore is the pivot she's taken over the last decade or so of being this renegade, artsy, socially reflective and almost political artist.

In slight fairness to her, the optics of her "campaigning" a Lemonade (with its political, racial lean), Rennie (with its LGBTQ lean), or even CC (with its genre shift that she's angling to position as authentic rather than dress up) wouldn't be...good.

Still, that doesn't inform whether or not she performs, drops visuals, or finds savvy ways of "campaigning" on her own terms. So there's a definite truth IMO of her shooting herself in her own foot.

I understand it's disappointing that we've barely seen her this era but...I wasn't expecting anything more ? This is just how she rolls now. It's frustrating as all hell but seething about it isn't gonna change anything :michael: We felt more fed during Renaissance Era because of the tour. I feel there will be another tour after ACT 3 and then she will release her multiverse film or whatever she has planned...

My one gripe however is how they couldn't even get Bey & Miley for one actual photo together to promote II Most Wanted :dies: That visualiser is a damn mess and looks like it was made by someone in school lmao

Like!

A Bey + Miley "recording the song in the studio video" forgetting the fact the song was a Miley demo that Bey snatched and shaped into "duet" would have done the trick. Or even a surprise live performance at Stagecoach that they uploaded to YouTube.

I get that there's clearly a vision and intention to gag with the visuals at large, but IMO the above wouldn't take away from that in any way at all..

If she's really trying to drop the visuals with the release of Act III (or after), they are really gonna need to find a something to tide the people over. Because, as we're seeing with CC, the absence of a Cuff It, fan-fuelled post album moment sees everything die out quite quickly (even if successful/showing promise initially).

Can someone explain the history/lore behind the twins that perform with Bey? How did they come to be and why did she decide to have them in all her tours since?

She was their English teacher

She popped up on Jeopardy again tonight :suburban:

Quote

In "The Queens Remix" of this song, Beyoncé mashed up Madonna's "Vogue", updating the rap to honor Black icons

No one got it :suburban:

They also couldn't name Aaliyah when presented with a photograph of her, nor did they know the song Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now, they're just plain dumb

It's always funny how they always struggle with pop culture questions.

i watched a video of some old man smoking weed while he reacts to music and he did CC (before the video was copyrighted midway through and taken down :rip:

he instantly mentioned how cheap and last minute the vinyl packaging felt and halfway through Bodyguard he asked if it was a single bc it's a perfect, instant pop banger… oh Hasbeyn :suburban:

Yes, I know, the vocals are there and that's important, sure. And it's her going back to her roots (somewhat), nice. I understand why it's taken more seriously than the dance album by many fans. But Renaissance can cut diamonds. Its concept, its world, its vision is so complete and contained and crystal clear. It doesn't begin or end, it's spherical, a perfect shape of music. That's so Bey to me, the star and the artist. Quality and control down to the silence between notes. Ren is her most cohesive album by light years. In comparison CC is sprawling and unfocused and messy, both in concept and execution. Other than the familiar sounds of the genre, it's largely without cohesion or continuity. It needed a clearer vision and an editor desperately. Ren is all control, CC is a project out of control. Even on my first listen at midnight it felt like a project that got away from her and which needed to have a deadline and not be tweaked and tinkered with for four years. I appreciate its ambition but so much about it just doesn't hit for me and in fact rubs me the wrong way.

Note to self when I'm a billionaire popstar and my own boss: Don't make an album out of spite.

That is MY main issue with this album. I feel like this album is more of a continuation of "I Am. . . Sasha Fierce" with a few hints of "B'Day", "LEMONADE" and, forcefully, "RENAISSANCE".

Her ability to bring so many sounds and musical history together is outstanding on the album, but it's part of the main problem. Coupled with the videos being held back, a lot of sounds are not making great strides in the threading of the story of the album. Too many songs are just there, too many pointless preludes, not enough story telling through the album instead just of each song. Every song on "RENAISSANCE" stands alone and plays its part, but songs here tell just the story of the song.

One of the reasons RENI lived beyond its mothers desire was because how marketable it was, but let's talk about tue production of the ALBUM️From the use of every sample being blended into original production PERFECTLY, her vocals being mastered crystal clear but also her use of technique. Though they are present on CC, they become overkill by the end of 22 tracks. Every song doesn't need 200 stacked vocals over the lead vocals. The instrumentation being mixed and mastered down to the uniqueness in the drum pad or percussion. The songs creating a world of its own but still crossing into the next without it being a complete afterthought (as we hear too many times here). Amongst a plethora of other things we can see were taken more seriously during the timeframe to release RENI.

CC is a great album, but production wise alone, it doesn't stand next to RENI. That is still the definition of Bey right now in terms of an overall album. It's not because it's a dance album, but because everyone was on their A game, she was vocally at her best. She may have showcased more versatility due to the nature of what country music is comprised of, but they weren't honestly trying build upon Reni until after it became a hit and that's very evident when listening to the two. From YAYA to SWEET HONEY BUCKIN, they were trying to lead into Reni, but it doesn't feel as if this was supposed to be the natural progression. It's a shame that she didn't played around with the greatest album of her career, injury or not.

Renaissance is her best album by FAR and I can't to see how it sounds 10+ years from now. I can't wait to see it continue to make people SEETHE on future GOAT lists :alexz3:

I'm sorry but the visuals are not good enough at this point. Even if it's the best shes ever done it still wont be worth the wait and how it derailed not just one album, but a whole trilogy of albums. Worst of all we have people in our ears pretending she has some massive plan that'll be revealed in time meanwhile the plan was:

She wasn't happy with conboy carter, rush released renaissance since they already booked dates for the stadium tour, shot visuals, turns out they sucked and tried to pawn them off on netflix/amazon/disney, everybody said NO. Now she's still not happy with cowdung carter and calls in collabs and adds more tracks and fixes the others, however parkwood already made the cds... not a problem for those who don't care about the fans, sells the OLD stock, and right before they box it up Beyoncé takes a look at the cover... OOPS! It still says ACT ii BEYINCE, hm well Ill post another cover on insta and THAT will be the official cover despite no copies of the actual cover being available... possibly EVER.

now the unpaid interns bored with no work to do instead try to create a fun lil website called beencountry and randomly post pictures while they are bored at work while their billionaire boss takes another vacation before probably having to fix act iii.

I wish she just released Renaissance with no acts, and instead of some high-brow art project she just films some cute videos for some tracks then tour, then disappear.
