Most black singers back then started in church by DEFAULT and were often discovered that way before doing any other genre of music. Expect some MAJOR vocals. Something that has been on my mind a LOT is the exclusion of Little Richard in Beys narrative so far, he is both queer and a major pioneer in rock, he can't be ignored and I doubt she leaves him out for act iii. YES!!!! YA YA was just a taste what's to come. Also the fusion of the hymn like chant at the beginning of TYRANT and going into a DA Got That Dope produced beat. She's about to blow our minds in the most epic way imaginable yet again and I lowkey feel like it'll be soooo much sooner than everyone is thinking.

Cbreezy Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I am so damn intrigued about the recent years of Bey's business trajectory. I really hope we get the tea about it at some point, even if years down the line. Because I really get the sense (aka I've decided lol) that sis really said "nah uh, I got to regroup" after EIL/The Gift underperformed. We give both the "side project" treatment, but if we're keeping it 100 both should have done better on the merit of Bey's name alone. And the fact they didn't was concerning as a fan and no doubt a "wtf moment" for her too. Here she was coming off the enormity of Lemonade and yet somehow between Tidal, not embracing streaming, and in some regards going against the grain of what her fans wanted (aka EIL instead of a post-Coachella solo LP), she found herself against the ropes heading into Rennie...which is objectively wild. I pay A LOT of attention to the backend of her operation and it's extremely telling that she effectively cleaned house after BIK. Remember the manager that praised scoring "two top 10" albums after TG flopped as some kind of positive spin that even we side-eyed? He was gone in the immediate aftermath of BIK. Plus other execs in the fold and creatives. Roles were eradicated and total new ones were created. Looking at "Beyonce" as a product, Rennie kicked off the new era, RWT saw the new business model in full swing, and now CC the flowers of her new tree bloom more. I trust that she'll continue to remold her model the more to ensure she's fighting fit in an ever-changing industry, but just saying aloud that I'm almost as equally invested in this aspect of her career as I am the music. Especially as an 90s/00s/10s R&B fan, who has seen so many acts come and go because they don't approach their careers in such a business-minded/product-driven way. Particularly at challenging times. Perfecting the pivot to meet the market need and adapting her team to keep her brand and market position top tier is an angle of her perfectionism that I admire so much and would love see more of. We likely won't because it hinders the mystique, but again hopefully we get insights at some point. 2

I think it's a play on old western hangman who would kill those sentenced to death, but she's referring to the hangman as the other woman who stole her man, who comes to town and sleeps with all of the men. She refers to the hangman as a tyrant, and then refers to herself as the tyrant. Seems like a super sex positive song to me. 1

This further points to CC visuals being the start of the universe, hopefully. It's the most "her" and vulnerable. Renaissance is futuristic. OR each act represents the past (rock) , present (cc), future (ren)?
Cbreezy Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Oh, and I say all of the above to say looking past CC and even Act III... I'm elated that she's establishing a streaming footprint that will immediately see any future "side projects" arrive on much more fertile ground to slay on launch. In one regard, once the trilogy is complete, I wouldn't mind her taking long/er breaks between projects and making every such drop an "event". Equally, now that her legacy is set and we have established that we won't hold her side projects to the same commercial scrutiny as her main offerings, I would love to see more concept projects like The Gift, EIL (ideally with other artists), and film-based things to bridge the gap between her main solo albums. It's more music for us and more creative freedom (sans "as much" commercial pressure) for her. 5

Could explain the visual with the two Beyoncés back to back.
