We got Cecred out the way (yay for the great response), we snatched the #1, and have a ton of album buzz and goodwill...it's literally preorder time. 

 

I feel it's imminent too, especially as she subtly acknowledged the BMS #1 last time (so we know she won't play dumb to it all despite her "art not charts" mentality). It's way too good of a springboard for the album campaign at large to not build it around. 

 

In the most ideal scenario, the next couple of days will go something like this:

 

* "Thanks for supporting Texas Hold Em. I love yall deep" IG post.

 

* Album Title and Cover Reveal. Preorder goes live. A brief explanation of the album concept, as she did with Rennie

 

*  Shop Beyonce and Parkwood pages go HAM with all the variants, boxes, etc.

 

I really trust their process, but I can't shake my irritation at the fact that she had 7/8 weeks to sell a project pre-release and is now willfully condensing that down to 4 weeks.

 

It'd be different if Act II surprise-dropped during this Texas smashing frame. At least, there'd be a certain amount of guaranteed beneficial streams for that first-week umph, but who knows if its momentum will look the same as it is now (or better) come March 29th. So why wait with the preorder stuff. 

 

I have no issues eating humble pie and in this instance, I actually WANT to eat it, especially if she's coming with something big, all-out and unexpected with the retail push. The Verizon lead-in for the era is already still gagging me 2+ weeks on, so we'll see. 

 

But yeah, whatever the case, it's definitely time for that preorder link.

Really hoping it can have a moment down the line, but even if it doesn't, this is one of those times where Bey's "think bigger than the charts" strategy definitely shows its worth. 

 

It's like Texas ticked her commercial box and 16 Carriages shows the qualitative depth of what's to come. It definitely has a very important value in its own right. I love the double drop; there was the risk she would split attention between both tracks. But it's all worked out. 

 

I would like to hope the critically acclaimed-ness of 16 Carriages opens the door for the success of another track on the album with the same sound. Our next Halo, maybe.

Billboard said the end of Feb, knowing the labels lawyers it'll go that long, which makes for the good run of THE anyway, radio and streams can do the rest.

I think we all know the song is a hit but I don't want a BMS redux. I hope it can be up there with SL. A staple song.
