The Renaissance era should end with 2023. We gotta let the visuals go and move forward at this point. Any release of the visuals in 2024 will be kinda weird. 2024 should be the launch of Act II. We now understand that her knee injury ruined a lot of her initial plans and it's okay. She is human and things happen.  I think there is a lot to learn from this era to improve upcoming eras.

Kinda of this stance too.

Although, I'd really love to see her salvage some aspect of the visuals. Be that in a surprise drop alongside the on-demand release of the doc or as part of some elaborate visual that encompasses Act 1 and 2.

If none of this is happening, then yes, it's time to call Rennie a day and move on. She and us.

Dropping the visuals in 2024 not only won't make much sense (nor move the needle), but I worry that it will set a scary precedent in terms of how she'll handle future releases. Rennie is literally my fave album of hers (which is some feat as a fan from No, No, No) but the oddness of the era (specifically around the visuals) has been kinda ugh. We all thought the 1-year wait for BIK was something, but two years for Rennie? What would stop her from doing it again and thinking it's the move?

Similarly, her then randomly being "on time" with the visuals for future releases will make this whole situation make even less sense in hindsight.

So, yeah, she should sneak-release the visuals with the doc's streaming drop and call it a day.

The visual album idea should’ve been left in the past alongside the surprise album one. Lowkey every time she kept doing both concepts it just diluted the impact of ST. While Lemonade having a film made sense cause there’s a clear narrative throughout the album, I personally never thought Renaissance needed to be a visual album. Even when I imagine RENAISSANCE visuals in my head, I’m picturing unique concepts for each one.

Next era let’s keep it to MVs just for the singles.

I love Black Is King and I'm happy we got it but I agree with the rest. Renaissance is not an album that feels like it needs a movie with a storyline. And as great as movies are, if the videos for singles are not released along the singles then I find it a pity.

If she wants to keep doing movies then she should release individual and timely videos for the singles first and then close the era with a film that ties the whole album together. It would serve as a perfect closure of the era.

We don't know if she would've performed in the Grammys had she not been recovering from surgery tho. That alone would've changed the whole perception of the era, because most of us were assuming she was done with performing at any awards show other than the Oscars.

I would love an anthemic track like this for Act II

Or bops like these

I seriously stan the Pointer Sisters' Break Out album. The 12" club mix of Jump For My Love is one of my favorite songs of all time.

If Giraffe ever served this I'd combust

I'm in 100% agreement that this era needs to be wrapped up. A mess.

My House for best original song?

Its not even labeled as a soundtrack song on the release. Highly doubt it would be eligible as bey always suffers the blows of small technicalities.

lets just enjoy 7/11 2.0 for the bop that it is.

They introduced a "box office achievement" category in order to award certain people

To lure them to attend? We all know Barbie is winning that. Lol.

we kinda do since she had a year to perform anywhere before the surgery and did nothing, so an oscar performance every 5 years and private elite weddings it is :biblio:

OT : next year is gonna be very nasty when virtually everyone will release albums  and go on huge tours while we’ll be stuck waiting for moldy music videos and the occasional yacht pic

as for "let’s pack Renny up and move on to ACT II" hive… i wish you an ounce of luck, it’ll only get worse from here on out

I pity those who hope for visuals at this point. Probably the same people who still hope for FWT DVD. Pitiful

I'm sorry but having no visuals is beyond iconic at this point. The fact that she's THE visual album girl and didn't do so but still got a #1 hit, #1 album #1 tour #1 film...  it says a lot.

Swiss, u are a precious lil stan, but u have to be a bit rational here: in order for sth to be iconic, people need to care first. Most people couldnt care less about the fact that theres no Videos attached to the songs (especially not in.the streaming era).

Most people also didn't care about the film as seen by the numbers which are driven by Hive members. GP doesnt care

To be fair, nobody was expecting the GP to care about the film.

No way, teasing it made it more iconic because it highlights the very act of not releasing visuals.

Us knowing with considerable "proof" (ie. not just a mention in a press release) that they exist makes it that much more impactful that she has willingly withheld them, that she felt she could be better or just as fine without them. it's not just a "I guess we actually don't need to create visuals this time around" it's a "we have visuals but we actually don't even need them."

Things can be iconic in their own right though. There's tons of iconic things within sub-cultures that mainstream society doesn't care about.

Julius is an iconic part of Beyoncé's world. Does that mean he's not iconic to us simply because the GP don't know him? Or even the name "Reneigh", it's iconic to us, but literally no one else cares. "Iconic" is overused, but here it is correct. Not having visuals is one of THE iconic aspects of this era, like it or not, Hive-known or GP-known or not.

Perhaps you thought I was saying "everyone in the world is waiting for the visuals". I said it's iconic that she has not released visuals and still had such success which is to say: after establishing visual albums as her way, and after decades of music videos being THE way popstars promoted their work (and certainly so for Beyoncé's generation), actively releasing NONE is ICONIC as it is THE era that proves videos (and by extension promo) are not necessarily needed if the music is great. There have been #1s without videos. But how many have also come from an album cycle where absolutely no videos were released? This is really my point. That she's doing something rare ... no videos, yet clear success.

And within the hive people do care about the visuals, or we would not be having nearly the exact same conversations about them 1.5 years later.

You can call me a precious stan, but that doesn't stop me from having a point and no amount of pointing to the film's numbers will change that, as clearly a tour film is niche content catered specifically and solely to Beyoncé fans.

I'd even argue the GP didn't really care for T*ylor's either...she just has a much larger and more dedicated (and younger) fanbase than Beyoncé, as well as having done more/better promo for her film. I mean how many people bought tickets for her movie on a whim, just because they were curious and NOT because they are a fan of Taylor's music? Concert films are not the same as regular movies. It's about fandoms first and foremost.
