Who cares?

It’s not commentary on him, it’s his source.

Reputable publications and people get bad intel all the time.  TMZ has accidentally reported people being dead before.

It happens.

The source essentially just said no deal was done at the time 6months ago and it was recently being shopped, I wouldn't put too much weight on it being  "passed on" or "Bey not being happy with"... It was shown but not sold as the source was speculating as why it wasn't sold.

“…select studios and streamers actually got a look at the project between four and six months ago, but they passed at the time.”

Excuse me?!

They did because she was demanding a theatrical release and they didn’t want to pay for it

So based on zero evidence that this is dodgy intel, you now expect us to disregard this tea from an actual legitimate and respected insider, which is now being reported by all huge film platforms like Deadline and compare him to a Twitter account that has 0 vetting process and just reposts everything anyone sends them?

No.

YOU don’t have to disregard a thing.  Nor did I ever imply anyone needed to.

I just don’t buy it.

"Stay tuned for more details, as I have a feeling we’ll be hearing more about this project once legacy media outlets start asking Team Beyoncé for comment…"

I'm curious why this point was made

Because a leak turns into a flood and artists always want to pre-empt more info coming out. So when the other outlets start asking for info and Parkwood realizes things are starting to leak, they'll probably get ahead of the story and do something to announce it on their own terms. We've even seen it happen with Bey a few times.

Or she's out of her depth or overestimates the value of this individual piece of work... It's not like she hasn't flopped or released duds in her recent past:celestial5:

I won't say too much more on this toopic but we've seen that being a huge musician doesn't mean you can that power into viewship of a movie. We also haven't seen the film whilst they have (at least a version of it). But either way we're 100% getting these visuals and anything could of happened between early 2023 and now... For all we know, one of the studios could of suggested reshoots/re-edit etc. Main thing is its clearly coming :katie2:

But RENAISSNACE is neither a dud nor a flop.

The success of the album, its singles (CUFF IT, mainly with very little push whatsoever) and its tour (today named the best selling female tour of all time) all point to this era being ANYTHING but a dud or a flop, not to mention its cult following and its massive critical acclaim meaning it should have considerable cultural interest. And most of this was well proven 4-6 months ago.

My point was that I commend Beyoncé for not lowering her asking price just because streamers didn't have faith in her.

I feel like Beyoncé has touched upon this before in her graduation speech (or something else): where she said that if she wasn't offered room at the table, she'll make it herself. That may take time and more work but in the end it's something more alike to what you deserve. I know that's different than talk of ROI for streamers, but I appreciate her taking a stance FOR HER ART and not giving into what the powers that be tell her, hearing "ya music films don't do well for us" and lowering her price accordingly. It's not the first time she's told the industry what's up, and changed the way people think about her art and by extension the art of others, and I'm glad about that. This is an industry who routinely has not taken women's work as seriously as men's; or Black creative's work as seriously as white creators; or queer content not as seriously as straight content... I like that she had the confidence to say "no."

Whether she's overestimated it or not doesn't matter to me.

Tbh Bey shouldn’t even have to show it. They should be jumping at the chance to buy it. There is definitely more to this than we know. I don’t buy the “she isn’t happy with it”. If she wasn’t happy with it, then why would she be showing it to buyers. There is probably something in the deal that they weren’t happy with.

Just regarding your first point. Neither Rennie or Cuff It are A class hits, they're not sittingat the top of 2022 singles or album sales/streams on the global stage. They're like a solid B. The tour is mega but that's through Bey's legacy. None of this translates into the success of a film. Coldplay may be able to gross 1b in tour revenue but they're not drawing the GP to the cinema or streaming platforms, entirely different mediums and requirements.

One thing about Miss Carter is that she's a horny woman with a hazardous ceiling mirror and a capitalist. So her knowing her worth and looking for the biggest bidder is no surprise to me! :lakitu:

Hmm I wonder if she really wants a theatrical release! It’s a very interesting idea. Personally, I wouldn’t go to a movie theater to watch the visuals, I’d rather watch them at home even if it meant waiting a bit. But I bet a lot of people would

She has that new 200M mansion so there goes that. Plus the 100+ tour costumes took up the Dubai 20M, mama is scrambling for money!

I forgot about the mansion and the unlimited costume budget. she really is sick in the head.

Not to be that person but they’ve probably seen her streaming numbers and ratings from her last visual film. They would need a persons with massive pull to pay a high price.

Don't believe anything re: DC until Beyonce speaks it out of her mouth herself. Especially not while Matthew still has his grimy hands all over DC
