Alanis Morisette - You Oughta Know

- As a person who grew up listening to and developing mad love to 90s music, I really approve of this choice. This sounds of its time yet also sounds fresh at the same time. This is just an excellent selection.

Avril Lavigne - I'm With You

- This song, and Avril's entire debut album, perfectly proves how she was the ultimate anti-Britney. This is a well-written song that I have always have adored. I can picture my 10 year old self emoting to this song. It's a cringey imagery but it just proves how I can relate to this song.

Kim Petras - Heart To Break

- Please, of all the songs to choose from this decade, you chose... this? This is cute but it's nothing special. Also her screaming in the chorus is kinda irritating.

Chloe - Have Mercy

- You had the bad luck of choosing the current decade. You only had two years to choose from and lbr, the output in the last couple of years isn't really great. With that being said, you chose an okay song. But this is the finale, so an okay may not just cut it.

VIDEO GAMES

tl;dr: Y'all did bad in this category. Y'all could have done so much better.

- It's fine. It's too long for my liking. I appreaciate tho that the JRPG-ness of the sound.

CHVRCHES - Warning Call

- Hear one of their songs and you've heard them all. This is also just fine. Not really liking it that much.

CHVRCHES - Death Stranding

- Much better than their other song here but that's not saying much.

Koji Kondo - End Credits

- Are you for real?!? I hope this cost you the game because this is just the worst. Probably the worst choice made this season.

- Definitely a classic. A strong choice. However, it's up against probably my second favorite Janet song of all time (Together Again is my number one lol).

Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance with Somebody

- Another classic but I think this maybe on the lower end of my ranking. Idk I just don't feel too much sentimental attachment to it. I still like it tho and it's a great song.

Fergie - Glamorous

- My favorite Fergie song of all time and probably her best. It's not really something you can dance to but still I love this song so much.

Janet Jackson - All For You

- Ah, my closeted 10 year old self is happy hearing this song and is dancing like a slut. :kii6: No more debates, this is the winner for me in this category.

- Oh wow, Tove really did that with this this song. She excels in talking about hedonism in her songs and this one is no exception.

Fiona Apple - Hot Knife

- I love this album and probably in my top 3 Fiona albums of all time. However, I have always been lukewarm to this song. I get what it is trying to do but I just don't feel it.

Billie Eilish - Male Fantasy

- Hmm, cute song... but cute next to gorgeous... lol jk kidding it's not cute. It's actually boring.

Tame Impala - New Person, Same Old Mistakes

- Controversial opinion: Rih did great with her version but she did not top this. This has just the right feels for me.

THE DECADES

Alanis Morisette - You Oughta Know - Absolute 90s rock classic, the chorus is so catchy and her delivery is so raw and powerful.

Avril Lavigne - I'm With You - So sad and beautiful, a great choice for this decade, I used to think this was a bit overrated but that last chorus snatched me and really you can’t go wrong picking Avril to represent the 2000s.

Kim Petras - Heart To Break - This was surprisingly a bit of a bop but um her voice is the chorus gets very grating I had to stop listening.

Chloe - Have Mercy - This song was so overrated when it came out, it’s a very underwhelming debut single and the production sounds so bland and empty. I admit that it’s a bit catchy though.

VIDEOGAMES

Hikaru Utada - Simple And Clean - This has a very pretty production and overall is very pleasant though it overstays its welcome a bit.

CHVRCHES - Warning Call - This was cute, they know how to make cutesy generic bops, I feel like this was longer than it is though and that’s not a good thing.

CHVRCHES - Death Stranding - This is also very nice, the production is more interesting and keeps my attention more than their other song.

Koji Kondo - End Credits - I’ve never played or rather finished this game when I was a kid but it’s somehow making me nostalgic. A very bold choice for the finale and tbh this is more in the vein of what I had in mind when we picked this category. The different switch ups tho…

THE DANCEFLOOR

Janet Jackson - If - Might be her best song after Velvet Jesus omg :wap: I’m obsessed.

Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance with Somebody - Yes a classic, it puts me in a good mood but I gotta say the instrumentation in the chorus gets a bit too noisy.

Fergie - Glamorous - Another classic although I’ve never been a big fan of this one, is very nice and chill to listen to but I’m not obsessed.

Janet Jackson - All For You - An absolute feel good bop, I love the disco funk elements in the production, no wonder Britney tried to recreate this with Anticipating :lemmelistening:
