smholiv Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 ELIMINATED PLAYERS Spoiler if your girl only knew absolute classic, great production, still fresh and huge amount of "cool factor". this is her best album easily, I'll be ranking this well when I see u the like nursery rhyme/lullaby piano is kind of enchanting. I enjoyed this song, a fun throwback truth hurts definitely obnoxious but kind of enjoyable in a way? not sure how I feel about this so we'll see~ best part is the backing vocals in the chorus hot boyz (remix) its cool, I like it normally but a bit of a tough round so... climax yassssss one of my favourite songs of the entire '10s decade sskssklf, excellent choice maria maria mess, I wasn't sure if I'd know this just looking at it but I guess I do! it's enjoyable for a throwback but I probably wouldn't listen to it now. get busy solid throwback, reminds me of listening to the radio as a kid. definitely a classic and still pretty fun motivation she does this style SO well. truly has great dance songs but also great R&B moments. idk this is just so effortless, definitely high for me one dance truly takes me back to summer '16. this song was EVERYWHERE and definitely got overplayed. I suspect people are afraid of sending Drake but this is a literal classic and I love it let's groove one of my top ten 80s songs period sure thing smooth, cool vibe. doesn't hit as hard as some of these classics but nice choice don't let go (love) this song is so dramatic but that's the appeal. solid~ CURRENT PLAYERS (okay but why is this group amazinglKJSDF) Spoiler sexual healing YESSSSSSSS!!! mega classic and a blueprint all the man that I need feels like the early 90s in song format. I enjoy this but its not a highlight~ blinding lights one of the biggest songs for a reason, its so euphoric and does everything right. big classic miss independent his music is really terrible and corny to me, this is possibly one of his worst too adorn his BEST song, everlasting classic savage remix so much fun, a solid remix. love them, this will do well for me real love this will ALSO do well skfselrs, I was hoping for Mary and you sent a HUGE classic spotlight this was my first(ish) time hearing this and it's fine. I think if I heard it back then I'd get it more, but it feels like its for a different age demographic than me oops (oh my) this is a really fun song slkjlsdf, I like the lyrics. cool choice~ need u back she OWNED this song ****** in paris HUGE CLASSIC! Incredible song 1 thing you know this has always been acclaimed and regarded as one of the best songs of the 2000s but idk... I think it will be in the middle for me because it IS enjoyable, I like the beat, but this is a stacked group :cannot: I'm sorry empire state of mind the way I can't stand this song slkjdfsklf it's not the worst in the group but I'm not a personal fan sorry dilemma also super corny, maybe even more than the jayz song. it's just so yuck rumors this is okay. I do think its really fun and I like them collabing but it doesn't hit me that hard compared to other songs in this group. and I'm telling you I'm not going it's okay. not the worst in this group or anything but I don't really love songs like this pony very product of its time but I do kind of like it so I think this will end up in the middle though miss you pretty, has a lot of sentiment but it doesn't stand next to her other singles for me. tags Spoiler @Touch It @Kavish @Hikari @Alena @Auburn @Noah @Tom Vercetti @Drifloon @Dessy @Taylucifer @Pendulum @Thanatos @Valtersen @Lucky#17 @luckystrike @kipperskipper @Jay-Zicario @Billionaire @Not Like The Movies @ughgabriel @Stevie @TruGemini @boys @Moonlightbae @CBC @Jai @K$Ellie @TayDine1989 @touya kinomoto @Zolvnski @Guero @Mr. Duff @PinkBox @Element @Psycho @Rotunda @worldwide angel @ZORBIT
Psycho Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew: The production doesn't quite hit right for me Fantasia - When I See U: It's cute Lizzo - Truth Hurts: A bop Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz (Remix): I don't like it Usher - Climax: Ew no Santana - Maria Maria: Wild Thoughts outsold but it bops Sean Paul - Get Busy: A slapper Kelly Rowland - Motivation: Tried to send this, winner Drake - One Dance: It's a bop tbh Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove: This is still fresh despite being 40 years old Miguel - Sure Thing: Mehhh En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love): A classic
Touch It Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 dead people group! Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew: no this song is amazing. aaliyah never misses and I feel so bad that you're being penalized :( Fantasia - When I See U: YEAHHH beautiful classic, she sounds amazing on this Lizzo - Truth Hurts: this is really fun and catchy idc. I was BLASTING this the summer that this song became big like it's so fun and it is a bit corny and annoying but I really dont care lizzo doesnt deserve as much hate as she gets Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz (Remix): not her best at all but this is still good Usher - Climax: this song is very cute and nice. very nostalgic and feel good. Santana - Maria Maria: very good :oprah: Sean Paul - Get Busy: this is fun and all but I don't care for it sorry Kelly Rowland - Motivation: yeah a mega classic that we all know and love congrats babes Drake - One Dance: okay this is a bit of a bop i cant even lie, but def not my favorite drake song at all Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove: fun and groovy classic, got a little bored of it though Miguel - Sure Thing: beautiful amazing classic En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love): love this very good song
PinkBox Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew Does it even matter what I think? Fantasia - When I See U It was cute, but definitely didn't get my attention throughout the entire song Lizzo - Truth Hurts When I first heard this, I was like what is dis hunny... but now I love it, it's a bop Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz (Remix) Liked this, it was good! Good job Usher - Climax Eh, it's fine, nothing outstanding, it's there Santana - Maria Maria asdkjas idk if I like this because of Wild Thoughts or because I actually like it. Kind of a bop Sean Paul - Get Busy A classic and a bop Kelly Rowland - Motivation Didn't know this song, it's pretty good, gj (even though I don't like Lil Wayne) Drake - One Dance Absolutely!!! Spoiler not Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove Very fun song, I liked it! It is a bit too long, but I won't penalize it for that since I know old songs are just longer in general and I SUPPORT older songs!! Miguel - Sure Thing This was nice and chill!! But I don't think it's good enough compared to some other songs in here unfortunately En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love) Was one of my options, like this!!
touya kinomoto Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew - You can never really go wrong with Aaliyah. Except for sending a song with 2 banned letters for this round. It's a good song but kinda unfortunate it will be penalized. Fantasia - When I See U - I'm a big Fantasia fan back then and still is now but this is pretty unremarkable. Lizzo - Truth Hurts - My original approved entry. I bop but I wasn't confident with this that's why I switched. With that being said, it's a good song but Juice deserved its success. Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz - I... I don't like this remix. Usher - Climax - One of the best male songs of the last decade idc idc. Santana - Maria Maria - Let me be controversial yet brave and say that Wild Thoughts is a cute copy but did not surpass this classic. This is so sultry with those Spanish guitars. Also I have more nostalgia attached to this compared to WT. Sean Paul - Get Busy - OH YES. It's the classic but I have confession to make. I didn't know this songs title :kii6: It's a massive bop and will definitely rank well for me. Kelly Rowland - Motivation - One of my song choices (those were Adorn, Blinding Lights, Motivation, Truth Hurts and Psycho - none of these were my song). I wanna tank you for snatching this but nah, I can't do that to a song as good as this. Sometimes though, Lil Wayne's verse irritates me :kii6: Drake - One Dance - Uhm, I'll be honest and never liked Drake's work since the Take Care era. This has always just been okay to me. Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove - This is no September but it's also an undeniable classic and such a fun song. Love this choice. Miguel - Sure Thing - His voice is really sexy, ugh. This is kinda on the generic side of his songs but I still like this. En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love) - Another classic tho I don't have that much connection to it. It's a good song tho. I appreciate it.

ughgabriel Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing At first I thought this was gonna get very monotonous but the 80s sensual ballad type beat and the dynamism on his voice is so amazing. This made me feel exactly what Michael Jackson’s Human Nature makes me feel. My favorite type of R&B. Love, love, love this. Whitney Houston - All The Man That I Need The chorus is very grand and powerful. This also feels very cinematic too. I love her voice and the song is very pretty. I’m not sure if I’d listen to this very often. The sax is a really nice touch. The Weeknd - Blinding Lights I used to blast this when it first came out, it reminds me a lot of a-ha’s “Take On Me” which is one of my favorite songs of all time. They always play the Rosalia version at work which is atrocious so I’m happy this reminded me how good this song is <3 Ne-Yo - Miss Independent I don’t like the monotony of this song. I don’t feel like there’s enough dynamism to keep me interested. The first verse and chorus caught my attention because the melodies were interesting but that glimpse of attention faded away after I realized it wasn’t going to offer me anything else :/ Miguel - Adorn Very pretty song! I love his voice so much. I always like to think of scenarios where I’d listen to a specific song and I can’t think of anything for this one, nor can I think of another song that carries the same energy as this one. Very unique and that usually means great musicality. Megan Thee Stallion, Beyoncé - Savage (Remix) Hmm, this is twerk worthy but I don’t think I’d listen to this as often as I would with the other songs. Beyoncé added layers to it, yeah, but it’s still just good to me. Nothing great, but I like it. Mary J. Blige - Real Love This one has one of the least interesting productions. I’m not saying it’s bad but it is a little less risky and -recognizable- than other entries here. Her voice, however, makes this song great. The second half of the song is so pleasing. Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight I live for this. I love the ad libs, the cheesiness, the storyteling. I don’t know why but I could picture Megara and the muses from Hercules making a cute number of this song. Tweet - Oops (Oh My) I personally don’t find this enjoyable. Jazmine Sullivan - Need U Bad This is nice. Very romcom soundtrack-ish. I think the song’s structure, production, delivery is nice but nothing outstanding that makes me completely understand why would this be your first pick. I don’t mean that in a bad way. I just don’t find it to be extremely memorable :shy: JAY-Z, Kanye West - In Paris I despise, hate, abhor and loathe Kanye West as a person with such passion, but this song is AMAZING. Funny how I wish he didn’t exist yet I’ll be giving this song my #1. Amerie - 1 Thing I personally don’t find this enjoyable. Jay-Z, Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind PLEAAASE, the way I hated this song back in 2009. Now I can vibe to it and appreciate it. It’s very nostalgic and I like it <3 Jay-Z’s verses go on for too long though Nelly, Kelly Rowland - Dilemma This is one of the few R&B songs I knew as a kid so it just sounds right in my head! Brings back some cute memories :3 Lizzo, Cardi B - Rumors Lizzo is very hit or miss to me. I despise Truth Hurts, very gross. But I love Good As Hell, very good! I stan this song. When I first heard it I thought it had the attitude people liked from TH but channeled in a much more pleasing way. Perhaps I’ll be giving this my #1 instead of Kanye? We’ll see :hmmm: Jennifer Holiday - And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going I really like this song but my first time hearing it was as a cover on The Glee Project. And I honestly haven’t found another version that has made me feel as joyful as that one. I do have to say that the power in Jennifer’s voice really sells the song. I love how she emulates the emotion! Aaliyah - Miss You This is very pretty. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not very familiar with R&B but two years ago I started listening to Erika de Casier and I love her music so much! It’s very ethereal and I feel like she was inspired by this type of R&B because it has that same mystical, pretty energy. Giniwine - Pony It’s really nice for a minute then the beat gets too repetitive for my liking :( It does carry a very sexy energy but I’m still unsure if I think that way because it just does or if it’s because of Magic Mike. Uhm, this isn’t my favorite entry but it’s not bad!

Overprotected Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 CAST Spoiler Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing - Oop this is a very nice song, love the groovy production and the fact that we got at least 2 80s songs this round :praiseshock: Whitney Houston - All the Man That I Need - Whitney sounds great as expected but this is the kind of song/ballad that I just don’t find that interesting except for the cute vocal moments. The Weeknd - Blinding Lights - It’s a cute 80s inspired synth pop moment. Ne-Yo - Miss Independent - This sound of 2000s R&B really and the fact that this is not a cover of the Xtina penned Kelly Clarkson smash hit Miss Independent got me a bit disappointed. Miguel - Adorn - A modern R&B classic and dare I say his best song still? Yeah I Said It. Meghan Thee Stallion - Savage Remix - I never cared much for this remix tbh like this is the kind of song that should just be 2 minutes long. I definitely do not regret giving this a 0 on the female rap rate :demon: Mary J Blige - Real Love - This sounds older than it is, I really like the retro beat and the piano, I use. Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight - Yeah this sounds very late 00’s in the most dull way possible. Tweet - Oops Oh My - This song had some interesting elements to it but at the same time it was just there? I’m not sure where this will rank for me tbh. Jazmine Sullivan - Need U Bad - Yass love this classic. Jay-Z - Blank In Paris - This bops, the loop started to get a bit annoying but I really enjoyed the switch up in the production in the last minute of the song. Amerie - 1 Thing - Mhm I really enjoy the funky production in here and the strings that come in near the end :winnie: I gotta say I thought her voice was turrible at the beginning, I kinda laughed but it works for the song Jay-Z - Empire State of Mind - A classic yup, Jay and the She Don’t Really Care_1 Luv songstress made some points here. Nelly - Dilemma - Surprisingly I enjoyed Nelly’s parts more than Kelly’s. Overall this was cute though nothing really outstanding for this round. Lizzo - Rumors - Wait a minute… this was very cute why didn’t I listened to it before :lemmelistening: I even thought Cardi’s part was tolerable. Jennifer Holiday - And I Am Telling You… - Mercedes Jones did it better perhaps. Aaliyah - Miss You - This is very nice and chill, the production really reminds me of Mariah’s breakdown with the guitars and birds chirping. Ginuwine - Pony - This is hot. Comeback Aspirants Spoiler Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew - Not one of my fave Aaliallah songs but I still bop quite a bit, anyways I swear I didn’t notice the vanished letters sorry :shy: Fantasia - When I See U - This is high camp perhaps, her hoarse screams in the last chorus in contrast with the soft vocals made me cackle a bit. Lizzo - Truth Hurts - This got overplayed and tired but it’s been a while since I listened to it and it was kinda cute! Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz (Remix) - It was alright, not really one I feel like I’d revisit Usher - Climax - This is not hitting as hard as I feel like it could, like the chorus could go off harder for a song called climax. Santana - Maria Maria - This is a great choice, that guitar hook is so hot. Sean Paul - Get Busy - This kinda sounds poorly mixed but I still use, it’s very sexy :daisybop: Kelly Rowland - Motivation - Lil wayne’s part brought this down ngl, but it’s still a cute bop :juicybop: Drake - One Dance - Eh it’s not bad but I never cared for this, very 2015. Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove - This was lovely for like the first 3 minutes, could use a radio edit or sumn. Miguel - Sure Thing - It’s no Adorn and well yeah it doesn’t do much for me, it’s just decent. En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love) - Oh wow I wasn’t expecting this RnB/Rock ballad fusion, I stan.
kipperskipper Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew : fk Fantasia - When I See U: nah Lizzo - Truth Hurts: serve Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz (Remix) Stream on Youtube: eh Usher - Climax: ok Santana - Maria Maria: meh Sean Paul - Get Busy: yas Kelly Rowland - Motivation: nah Drake - One Dance: good Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove: k Miguel - Sure Thing: sure En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love): no
Auburn Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew oh it’s so sad that this has banned letters I really like it Fantasia - When I See U it’s very nice but I’m not blown away Lizzo - Truth Hurts it was awful then, and it’s still awful now Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz (Remix) yas love this Usher - Climax I love this, it’s always been great Santana - Maria Maria it’s very nice, but I’ve always felt like this kinda goes nowhere Sean Paul - Get Busy it’s a classic yeah Kelly Rowland - Motivation I think you’ve won this comeback without a single doubt in my mind Drake - One Dance oh… you tried Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove major classic, goes on a bit too long and repetitively for my liking, but still great Miguel - Sure Thing it’s nice, but not amazing En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love) ugh I love this song it’s so good, probably my #1
Not Like The Movies Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Firstly, let me just say that this round is SO strong, the best round so far imo. There is not 1 song I hate from either groups. I will definitely struggle to rank. Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew - I love this song so so much Fantasia - When I See U - This is such a black classic, my mom and aunts used to blast this and Spotlight while cleaning the house on Sunday mornings, whew the memories, excellent pick! Lizzo - Truth Hurts - such a fun song! Missy Elliot - Hot Boyz (Remix)- this is SO good Usher - Climax - Amazing amazing song, he has one of the best falsetto voices imo. Love it! Santana - Maria Maria - a classic yeah, really good song! Sean Paul - Get Busy - Well you know I would love this one! An absolute banger Kelly Rowland - Motivation - Such an insanely infectious song, like wheww Queen Kelly was in her bag, she did that! Drake - One Dance - This a bop and I will stand by it period! It's funny to hear WizKid on this song while he has a huge hit right now with Essence, love to see i. Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove - yup a really nice classic, good pick Miguel - Sure Thing - This is another song that has me feeling nostalgic, love this song! En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Love) - classic! such a great song and pick
Lucky#17 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Spoiler Marvin Gaye — Sexual Healing A classic! I hope this doesn’t get done wrong just ‘cause it’s a male singer. Whitney Houston — All the Man That I Need Eh, this seems like a “lemme submit just ‘cause it’s Whitney”-type entry to me. The Weeknd — Blinding Lights Solid choice. Ne-Yo — Miss Independent Hmmmm, it does get lost in the shuffle here, but I wouldn’t put it last & hope you don’t get elim’d off the bat ‘cause this song is real sweet. Miguel — Adorn You knew what you were doing with this1. Megan Thee Stallion f/ Beyoncé — Savage Remix Cute! Mary J. Blige — Real Love You can never go wrong with Mary. Jennifer Hudson — Spotlight Absolutely!!! Tweet f/ Missy Elliott — Oops (Oh My) I have a phase every single year, maybe for the past 6/7years where I play the hell outta this song. Absolutely ****ing timeless. Jazmine Sullivan — Need U Bad Hm, this might be my least favorite single of hers, but it still holds up in this group. JAY-Z & Kanye West — ______ in Paris You knew what you were doing with this1. Amerie — 1 Thing Mad-mad cute. JAY-Z f/ Alicia Keys — Empire State of Mind Aaaaaah, didn’t Alicia perform this at the VMAs? Another bonafide classic. ****. Nelly f/ Kelly Rowland — Dilemma Thought of sending this but I’m sure if I tried it probably woulda been taken anyway. It’s solid, but does fall a little short just ‘cause the competition’s crazy. Lizzo & Cardi B — Rumors Eh, it’s cute but gets obliterated in a round like this. Jennifer Holiday — And I Am Telling You… I will never forget when she performed this with Jessica Sanchez on American Idol & she looked like the Holy Spirit was being sung out of her lungs. When people say someone’s throat / lungs are “anointed”, I think of her now! Aaliyah — Miss You Yeah, seems like a “lemme submit ‘cause it’s Aaliyah”-type entry. Ginuwine — Pony I just wanna find a hot guy & get to a slow grind on a dance floor ASAP. Solid choice.
