There were a few physical singles that went Gold as late as 2003. I do believe had Hello shipped 500k physical singles it would've gone Gold physically too.

The second biggest selling physical single of the SS Era is Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You". This song sold 4.6 M copies. When combined with downloads, Houston is probably close to 7 M. I would assume with video views she is probably at 8-8.5 M.

According to this pic the digital single of IWALY was certified 3x Platinum in November for the 25th anniversary of the Soundtrack:

So, if the RIAA would combine Houston's physical sales, digital sales, and streams, Love would be 7.5-8×P. I'm assuming that the streams are added into the 3×P digital only certification.

 

Perhaps the RIAA is afraid to combine the two because physical singles should count for double the downloads, as is the case on the UWC chart. Regardless of what weight the RIAA assigns physical singles:digital downloads -- 1:1, 1.5:1, or 2:1; the certifications should without a doubt be combined.

 

If the RIAA combines physical and digital sales for albums, then there's no legitimate reason why they shouldn't do the same for singles. Quite honestly, I can't understand why the RIAA hasn't taken care of this already in the now almost 15 year history of digital downloads!

Lose Yourself streams are great (500m on Spotify ). How far do you think is Just Dance from the Diamond certification? (7,3m sales / 130m Spotify / 237m on YouTube). It was certified 8x platinum almost 3 years ago...

Lose Yourself streams are great (500m on Spotify ). How far do you think is Just Dance from the Diamond certification? (7,3m sales / 130m Spotify / 237m on YouTube). It was certified 8x platinum almost 3 years ago... 

Someone would need to do an analysis on how many of these Just Dance streams are US based. If these numbers are 100% from within the US, she has 7.3 M in raw sales. The streaming equivalent for 367 M streams is 2.447 M in sales. So, if your numbers are US and now WW, JD would need just over 255,000 to reach Diamond. But, I would need a US-only breakdown to know for sure, as JD probably isn't that close. It's strange that Bad Romance has about 1.5 M less in sales, but BR has had significantly better streaming since its release.

Bad Romance has well over 1,1 billion streams tho. The numbers I told you are WW, not US only, usually we use the 30% figure to estimate how many streams come from the US, but Just Dance was bigger in the US than it was WW (7,3m US sales out of 11,5m WW for Just Dance, compared to 5,8m US sales out of 12m WW for Bad Romance) so maybe more streams come from the US for Just Dance... plus we don't have the Apple Music numbers... I'm almost sure it's at the very least 9x platinum by now.

Yes, and sales. 

Wow!  Sam Hunt's "Back Road" is 5XP now, even with "just" 1.9 M in sales!  But, unless Need You Now can get the ~ 3.4 M in equivalent streaming, Cruise will probably be the only Country song to ever reach Diamond status.
