I agree with everyone so far, but why did it perform relatively poorly initially and only later get the attention it deserves?

Out of the five Top 10 singles from 1989, Style peaked the lowest on the Hot 100 (#6). Since then, it has consistently been the first or second most streamed song from the album (only Blank Space can compete), and the first day numbers for 1989 (TV) show it outperforming the rest. Why?
