Yearly Fergie Appreciation Thread
She chose the wrong singles in Double Dutchess. MILF$ was not it (not even the viral video saved it), LA LOVE did something but it came out like 3 years before the album released 🙃. She could've gone the ballad route and make Save it Til Morning the lead to have a Big Girls don't Cry 2.0 moment. She also had Just like You, A little Work… to go with it. or even choosing Like it Ain't Nuttin (with another video, the official one is kind of weird) if she wanted to go the fun 90s sounding pop / hip-hop route. With You Already know or this GEMS that were never released 👇

POLL: Is Fergie underrated as a singer / performer?
She topped the charts 2004-2011, solo and with the Black Eyed Peas, won 9 Grammys... No one can deny her success but unfortunately when it comes to her live performances, people only remember the 2017's National Anthem disaster. Sure, that was a train wreck of a performance and it wasn't her only 'bad night' on a big stage. Her performance in the Black Eyed Peas Super Bowl or her drunk Fergalicious performance failing to deliver the iconic verses and stumbling onstage were major fails. In my opinion, Fergie is messy, wild and fun. That's part of her X-factor. People fell in love for her wild, bold, unpredictable personality. She's not a safe artist and takes risks that sometimes pay off and sometimes fail miserably. However, when she's on top of her game she is a Star. Her voice and style is unique yet she fits into different music genres and excels in all of them. She's a rockstar, a rapper, an acoustic singer a pop star... But... what about her actual vocal talent and stage presence? Well, as noticeable as her bad performances were she is in my opinion way better than most pop stars in the Industry as a singer and performer. She hardly uses autotune, pitch correction or background vocals live, which are the norm in almost every single performance aired on tv nowadays. She has vocal range similar to renowned singers like Demi Lovato and can carry a performance with her stage presence alone. Here's some examples of Fergie at her best: She shines sining Meet Me Halfway live here. That entrance, those high notes by the end!!! Her raw voice on full display on an improvised performance with a German tv host on the guitar. Somehow Big Girls don't Cry sounds even better than the studio version here: Fergie premiering Fergalicious on Live tv: As an extra: Here's a more unknown performance of Fergie doing cartwheels while singing Barracuda. Her rockstar vocals and wild stage presence are in full display here:

ATRL... Do You Consider Doja Cat A Rapper?
Funny enough, Fergie has WON Grammys with her RAP feature on All of the Lights where she references about her past drug, money and mental issues during the lowest point of her life: "Unemployment line, credit card declined, did I mention that I was about to loose my mind… and also was about to do that line…" She's featured mainly rapping in Party People by Nelly or Netflix by 2 chainz. However she herself has never claimed to be a rapper but a singer who raps. She has mad respect for the genre and it's probably one of the reasons why she's never seen as problematic or culture appropriating. She grew up in East LA and has been in a band that was rooted in hip hop so everything is very organic for her. I would argue Doja was more of a pop star who raps at some point but now I would consider her a rapper too. I wouldn't consider Fergie a rapper as she doesn't label herself that way.

Was Double Dutchess by Fergie Unappreciated & Deserved Better?
Some unreleased songs leaked and omg ‘Sexy’ is the BEST in the album!! Should’ve been the Nicki Collab instead of ‘You Already Know’. Feels so weird to scrap this one and ‘Clones’. I wonder if it had to do with the rights of the song being affected by her exit from Interscope. Sexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 And clones:
