  1. I don't think I can do a ranking just yet, but everything has connected by now with the exception of never get over me I don't dislike it. It's catchy enough. I just don't feel the urge to re-listen to it yet.
  2. The choice to drop this during the Eternal Sunshine Tour seems all the more deliberate now. Like I'm sure she knew these weren't the belty, arena ready songs some people might have been expecting, so it won't surprise me if only a couple songs from the album get incorporated into the setlist going forward. And then she probably won't end up doing another tour until she drops another album.
  3. Well you need to change that
  4. And yet here you are, still checking out and commenting on her music, even despite her alleged streak of mid releases Ariana is a well-established act with a fanbase who will keep her relevant regardless of how the fickle public feels about her at any given moment. She hasn't had the public's favor since TUN at least, and it hasn't stopped her from getting at least one hit every era. Others are one trick pony, dime-a-dozen girls with guitars. Pretty and inoffensive, but ultimately faceless, easily replaceable, and destined to fade into oblivion when no one even cares enough to criticize the new material. Especially when you're not even young enough to have the excuse that you're still developing your identity. Maybe she can be a Jeopardy question in 10 years though. "Who was the artist behind the smash 2026 hit Choosin Texas? Who is Ellen? Ellen something?"
  5. Because everyone loves ****riding whoever the new flavor of the week is, like yeah we've been through this song and dance. Have fun with your shiny new toy the public will discard as soon as someone new and more interesting comes along
  6. I think an Ariana Grande album with 1) a more restrained vocal delivery / no big vocal moments and 2) no obvious dance floor or radio ready bangers was always going to be met with polarized reception from critics and fans. Because those are the main things people look for from her, and obviously she wanted to go a different direction here. But I don't get how you can decide if you like an album like this after a single listen. Like at least let it sit with you a few days before writing it off completely.
  7. Wait Kiss Me connecting now
  8. Deep breaths honey There's no more running
  9. This is a baaad thing This is a bad, bad thing
  10. Mother is always going to alternate between instant albums that are digestible for the masses and polarizing departures from her previous sound, so this is exactly what I expected from her tbh. I've been saying since the album campaign began that Hate was probably going to be the most earwormy song and that there wouldn't be any more obvious singles on the album
  11. I am not seeing enough praise for nowhere, nobody big feelings, bad thing, and oh well might be my other faves at the moment. But this is just after one listen through. I'm going to need more time with it.
  12. Okay this day was going by too slow but now the release is coming too fast. I still have things to do before I head to the listening party to re-listen through her discography
  13. When I was in Boston, she was taking pics with fans on the same streets I had been walking a dozen times, and I hate that I didn't run into her
  14. I ordered the vinyl from her online shop months ago but I honestly have no idea when it's coming
  15. Positions eternal sunshine sweetener thank u, next Dangerous Woman My Everything Yours Truly It's crazy how her discography can kind of be divided into groups of 3. Like YT/ME/DW feels like one phase (career beginnings), and then she entered another phase with S/tun/P (post Manchester). And then ES/p being a third phase so far (post Wicked) makes sense. I enjoy all her work, but I just revisit Phase 1 less because it feels more distant, being way earlier in her career. I just feel more connected to her more recent work.
  16. It was definitely one of the best numbers live
  17. My Everything is weighed down by just a few tracks and also its horrendous (but kind of iconic) sequencing. If standard tracks Why Try, JALBOYH, and Hands On Me were replaced with Only 1, You Don't Know Me, Too Close, and Cadillac Song and then some reordering were done, it would be a much stronger, more cohesive project.
  18. Baking Petal themed cookies for the listening party I'm attending, and then there are release parties at vinyl shops this weekend. Plus I'm still coming off my concert high last weekend. An eventful weekend to memorialize the release of her magnum opus (thus far).
  19. My guess is that she's feeling especially Cancerous, since Cancers are water signs
  20. Happy Petal Day everyone
  21. How am I going to get through two more work days before I get to listen to this
  22. Her leads are always such red herrings to the sound of the rest of the album
  23. This sounds so good already I see so much praise for stay specifically, but of course that's going to be one of the shortest songs
  24. This is gonna be an agonizing three days. Praying that we survive without any leaks until Thursday. I don't trust that people have already heard it, besides what's already been shared officially.
  25. Just got back from my trip to Boston where I attended night 3. The date was rescheduled from Friday to Sunday so I had to rebook flights and lodging and everything, but it was all worth it in the end I was able to make it to the merch pop up twice, there were so many cars blasting Ariana before the concert, people running around the city with carveouts of Ariana, amazing concert fits everywhere, and then of course the show itself was spectacular. I last saw her 8 years ago and this time was so much better than the DW Tour! She was so interactive and connected to the audience, even in an arena, and of course we got 34+35! I feel so lucky to have been one of the shows to get an extra song, but I was screaming for her to do nasty!
