I remember when It was released

I didn't care about Stray Kids at all and the last song I heard from them was Hellevator in 2017, but my friend — who is an once — posted it on our friend group chat during the day of the release and said It was better than any TWICE MV, so I went to watch out of curiosity to see If she was trolling just to watch a total cultural reset

I had no idea It would be such a big turning point in their career, but once you watch/hear it, It's totally understanable

:suburban:

Yeah, God's Menu really solidified their core identity and signature sound, whereas before, they were still experimenting with different styles. It's wild to think Levanter came out just 7 months earlier, because the 2 comebacks feel years apart. You can clearly see how much they evolved in that short time whether it be their image, vibe, and overall more polished image.

That said, I don't agree with how some STAYs act like they were completely nugu before God's Menu. SKZ were already a rising mid-tier group with solid momentum, on par with groups like MONSTA X and ATEEZ at the time.

Btw, the pre-chorus is my favorite part of God's Menu :DWAS:

A lot of these STAYs weren't here during pre-God's Menu, since a big portion of their fandom got into K-pop because of them eventually, so they didn't know how It felt the hype behind Stray Kids.

Their Reality Show had a good amount of people engaged in social media and when Felix was eliminated there was even a buzz surrounding it. During 2018, even though I didn't care enough to stop and listening to their songs, It always felt like they would have a breakthrough at any moment and It intensified during MIROH era. They somehow had a presence even If they had mid-tier numbers.

The only moment I lost faith in them was during Woojin departure. I thought It would hurt the group's marketing because they had that "9 or none" image kind strong, so I thought they would be at GOT7 level at best If lucky.

But they really surprised me with God's Menu. It's very original and on brand, works perfectly for them and the members were geniuses for doing what they did and changing their trajectory.

Five years ago today, everything changed and SKZ solidified them as one of the biggest Kpop acts of all time. It's wild to think that everything Stray Kids has achieved, and who they are today, all started with this one song :DWAS:

Still their best title track along with back door

Top 10 disbandment song

The way the MV received hate, but it's one of my favorites. It's Digipedi's talent showcase, one of the smartest directing of a low budget MV I've ever seen

If you were a highly talented vocalist would you want to waste your talents with 2 lines mixed into pots and pans?

I got into SKZ in 2021, and I remember seeing reaction videos that was released in 2018-2019 with reactors saying that SKZ were going to make it big. So yeah, it's pretty obvious that they had the it-factor from the start.

I do wonder how Woojin feels, seeing his former group blow up and have their big breakthrough just seven months after he left. He never really got to experience what it's like being part of a top or hugely popular group.

By Big 3 standards, they were considered a flop group at the time, since they debuted during the peak of 3rd gen. But when you compare their 2018–2019 era to some other Big 3 groups that debuted after them, you realize they were never truly flops, but just more of a mid-tier group back then.

The fact that both Side Effects and Zimzalabim were literally released on the same day. I just know that social media went crazy that day :deadbanana2:

it's hilariously obvious that Cadbury wanted only Jungwon for this campaign but Belift said no :fish2:

they did what they had to do to secure the endorsement of the chocolate king :fish1:
